innovation @ work culture

idea posted by niranjan.wadikar SBU/Profit Center Head, Aditya Birla Group
Well...Innovation as defined could be 'out of thinking'...implementing something never thought of....I guess innovation in work culture could be absolutely implied to make the workplace more interesting....IT PAYS BACK I reckon...IN todays scenario when it gets tough for people strike a balance in work/personal life , any initiative from the HR,management to address the same could be fruitful...also the heirarchy that any system has, most of the time make things complex for any employee..a matter of concern ....

Innovation in work culture would mean defying conventional work culture and doing something which has not been done traditionally. For example, bringing your children to the work place is normally unacceptable but if an organization allows mothers to bring babies or small kids to the workplace and be attended at a creche organized by the employer it would be an innovation. Similarly, a boss going to his subordinates desk whenever he needs to discuss something with his subordinate would be an innovation in work culture too.

also innovation @ work is "EXPERIMENTING WITH CREATIVITY @ WORK"..."THINKING-BEYOND", IN A PRACTICLE SCENARIO I DEFINE IT AS A CRITICLE VALUE ADDITION WHICH IS THE CAUSE FOR ENJOYING @ WORK PLACE...

One needs to be extreemly creative in cultivating the work culture in such a way that each and every employee feels the ownership and stays on for ever and provides ones best. It is not easy because a corporate is a mixture of social beings with divergent views opinions and attitudes.

So HR has to visualize the culture of the corporate well in advnace and look for candidates who fit into the culture. Qualification & experience should take a second priority.

This can be done only when there is a true representation of the corporates belief in value system and belief in its people as well as the faith of its employees in the coprate and its senior management.

Innovation involves creativity.
All innovation begins with creative idea's.
Innovation is the successful implementation of creative idea's in an organization.
(just to clarify the differences between creativity, innovations, the reason of success, of failure, the drivers and the outcome.

Let me try to keep it simple and straight.

"A work culture in which your innovative ideas are welcome is the innovative work culture."

* Innovation in work culture is required for the smooth functioning of an organization. * Fresh ideas for the betterment of man and material. * Culture in an organization is an intangible asset,so,should be up to the mark. * Culture sets the mentality of the employees and highly affects the quality of work and people. * So, innovation is a creative and continuous process that should be done and supported regularly.

As per my knowledge and experience I would define innovation as "Setting examples" in organization. The more I set examples in my organization, that much data I will be able to collect and to analyse, & case studies as well so that I can come to some productive & innovative idea.
