Smart people are patient and creative in managing this situations

idea posted by Gargi Sinha Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

In my opinion people should be smart enough and handlle these situations carefully because the patience one shows in such situations many help him to overcome the problem he is in moreover a fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. When one keeps quiet after a while the person insullting you understands that he is insulting himself and soon he will stop and not bother you again plus you’ll gain his respect too.

Yes smart people are calm and their creative work will give voice for their patient, therefore those who irritated will be insulted by their soul and also they begin to learn the lesson from this situation and also they won't insult anybody throughout his/her life

According to me when someone is insulting you just be calm at that point in time but make sure you retaliate to the insult in a very smart way through work and not arrogantly neither aggressively.

Golden rules

idea posted by Dr. Siddharth Varma Professor, International Management Institute

In corporate world, there are only two golden rules:

Rule 1: Boss is always right

Rule 2: When in doubt, go to Rule no. 1.

Insult is just a part of life in the corporate world. I guess, one has to treat it like that without getting too emotional about it. But of course, tolerating insult is not easy. Level of tolerance will differ from person to person. But, retaliation can be disasterous unless one has another job in hand.

Kudos Dr Varma.Golden rules never change.Survival of the fittest.etc etc will always be applicable.I have more than 12 years of industry experience and worked in public sector, private sector, small, medium and large organizations.Indian bosses have come a longway. The times are changing.Team Leadership,Visionary leadership, respecting the opinion of peers, colleagues, subordinates & boss is the need of the hour.Bosses are open to 360 degree feedback these days. What matters is understanding the need of the customer, effective communication with all stakeholders, delivering the project on time/ahead of time, elimination of MUDA(Japanese term for waste) and maintaining punctuality will make one deliver in the corporate environment .It pays tpo keeps thing simple rather than making them complex like Rube Goldberg machine.Bosses are no longer inspired by Taylor's Scientific management ,Theory X or Y but concepts based on original management research. The idea is to think fresh and lead the way for Management research suited to Global/Asian /Indian culture rather than just following the Western managementr concepts.

I Support Mr. Siddharth to 90% but to move forward in life and to step into the higher venues of the corporate world, you need to break Rule No. 1 & 2 Sometimes to do the right thing. not always is it fruitful but when it is, you wont regret being wrong for those 99 other times.

One more Golden Rule according to me. Never EVER think that you have made a wrong choice. just think that you got to learn something out of that one job which you didnt really want/like. just find the best things out of the worst times and you should sail through the corporate arena much smoothly than others. be unsatisfied but be eager to learn as well. DONT BE GREEDY!

The most common aftereffects of an insult in your professional field is that the person who is insulted, loses his/her own confidence. I do not believe in "boss is always right". Because if this is the case then we will have loads of people who are always right. Boss Customer, so on so forth. Where is your freedom of thought. Whatever may be the case, if an insult happens, the person should not lose confidence and stay focussed on his/her job. That way we can still the person who insulted, to be wrong and he will get irritated.

I believe in one having self respect. Whatever may be the case, but if one insults in a way that crosses all limits, one should take the correct action and not an outburst at that moment of time. By correct action, i mean approaching the anti harrassment people and bringing the matter to notice.

Bottom line is that do not get demoralized and stay focussed on your bread and butter machine. keep working and prove the other person wrong. People around you also are in good frame of mind. They can judge whether the person who insulted you did right or not. A boss who insults his/her subordinates, never find success in their life.

What i believe that one has to maintain self confidence and should hit at appropriate time so that things are now in our control. When some one is insulting then definitly we are on weaker side we should empower us and then beat the insulter in his premise.

Silence is the best weapon to conquere on any situation. But one thing is there some of the corporate insult very badly and dont want to realise about their fault.so one should do his work sincerely and make somehow to realise his employer that he was weong at the moment.Yes for that one has to be wise and highly diplomatic to handle the situation. Its I feel neccessary as until and unless the corporates are being realised they keep on insulting like a slave. So please think and advice clues to make them realised.

I really appriciate ur thought regarding ur post but my idea is somthing different like do loose ur moral among others, if u know u r right then forget everything and just stick to ur work and descision. If u know that u have that much of confidance that u can do that work anywhere and anyhow then why should u afraid of others. U know ur skill, ur stamina, ur confidence then u know how to fight.... simple....

When you are insulted by someone in your organisation just smile and walk out. Then think why it happened and how you can prove yourself in that issue. Work on it and teach the person who insulted a lesson......

This will help you to grow ......

In my opinion if you feel that you are being bullied take it to the highest level. Staying quiet will worsen things and don't stop working. Work even more harder and prove that the other person is over reacting and trying to show you down.

Against any insult you should never lose your own cool and dignity and stoop to the level of the insulter (if we may call them so).

If you do it, you would be obliging him/her in achievingtheir motive of bringing down to his/her level.

Be a Mirror-Reflect the truth

Case 1: You have done a mistake and are being insulted for the same.

"I accept its a mistake,I apologize and I am trying to resolve it.Your anger is warranted but this is not the way I should be treated. Please behave yourself"

If its your mistake and you are accepting it,it shows that you are concerned about the problem and you are taking responsibility to resolve it.This will do half the job of calming him/her down. The next part makes him/her realize his/her state of affairs which he/she has lost control due to anger.

Case 2 :You have not done a mistake and are being insulted for the same.

"Its accept its a mistake I offer to resolve it but I am not the person responsible for it.Please behave yourself."

By accepting the gravity of situation you are showing empathy toward him/her and this is surely going to calm him/her.Later make him/her realize he/she has chosen a wrong person for his/her outburst.

Case 3 : You are being bullied for no reason.

Just give him/her a deep cold stare, that would make him/her shiver.Don't allow anybody to take advantage of your humility.

There is always a way to resolve any situation provided we are in control of ourselves. Just leaving the situation as it is will always put us at receiving end. So I suggest one should be in control of himself/herself and command the situation .Don't let it overcome you.
