SPARK IT 2010

Dear friends,

We're well into the current era of the Web, commonly referred to as Web 2.0. I believe the biggest impact of the Web in 10 years time won't necessarily be via a computer screen, there will be lot of crossover and there will be Web technologies that become enormously popular that we can't predict now.

What then can we expect from the next 10 or so years on the Web? How do you see the future of web?

Mobile Web Internet

idea posted by Smita Dalvi Sales/BD Manager, Hewlett-Packard

Mobile Web Internet

I feel we have seen just the beginning. In 10 years time there will be many more location-aware services available via mobile devices; such as getting personalized shopping offers as you walk through your local mall, or getting map directions while driving your car, or hooking up with your friends on a Friday night. Many companies will become key mobile portals, alongside the mobile operators & much more.

Mobile web will definitely revolutionize the way things are done now..... :)

Great Idea Contest from Aparna & amazing ideas from others.......

This is really a revolution to use Internet on mobile, I personally use Internet on mobile for booking movie tickets, Mobile banking (ICICI bank application) and if you want to book you railway or airlines ticket. Now, Mobile Internet is a part of our daily life. There are lots of things you can do with your mobile web Internet.

Well I also see great potential in applications colobrating mobile handsets and web. Ever increasing processing power of mobile handsets there are n number of possibilities with database driven application having mobile phones as frontend and working as client in client/server architecture. It seems only restrictions now is there isn't any uniformity among operating system used by diff handset manufacturers but hope things will be sorted out very shortly.

2

The m.commerce business can grow in India once service providers adds various tools on your handsets.

To start with enable Taxi services, tie up with likes of Maru and Megacabs, 2. Start payment of utility bills thorugh hand sets.

The Pin system is not yet fully operative and guidelines of master and Visa do not permit to store credit card details with third party hence most of the credit card agency have to develop a solution to not only proivide  4 or 6 digit pin but also a password and authenticate date through their servers. Moment the banks start taking initiatives the m commerce can grow a big way in out country as we have second largest mobile connection in the world and credit card + debit card base today is more than 80 million.

All we need is a tool and secure transaction system on the handset.

Online or Interent TV

idea posted by Leena Pawar Tech Architect, IT Infotech

This is a trend that has already exploded on the Web, but you still get the sense there's a lot more to come yet. In October 2006 Google acquired the hottest online video property on the planet, YouTube. Later on that same month, news came out that the founders of Kazaa and Skype were building an Internet TV service, nicknamed The Venice Project (later named Joost). In 2007, YouTube continues to dominate. Meanwhile Internet TV services are slowly getting off the ground.  Also in India we just saw the launch of Tata photon with more than 50 channels in its service so surely Internet TV or Online TV is going to be the future of web, in future mobile phones becoming travelling TV's and with 3G setting its foot in India later this year surely online TV is the future.

True, I very much support Leena. Data moving along the network will get faster and heavier. 3G is set to open even more avenues for web. lately, IPL live streaming of its matches is the very example of the things to come.

Rich Internet Apps

idea posted by Aparna General Manager, CyberMedia India Ltd

Rich Internet Apps - I expect to see rich internet apps continue to increase in use and functionality. The advantage of Rich Internet Apps allows sophisticated effects and transitions that are important in keeping the user engaged. This means developers will be able to take the amazing changes in the Web for granted and start focusing on a flawless experience for the users. It is going to be an exciting time for anyone involved in building the new Web, because the interfaces are finally catching up with the content.

Hi Aparna myself Amitava,Your idea about future of web is RIA. Technically speaking it is not the future ,it is present like Technology AJAX API,XAML,Silvelight. But future will be  something extremely defferent.

Social Network APIs

idea posted by Kiran Kumar Reddy Business Analyst, SAP

The year 2008 was first when the trend of Social Networking APIs took off. All of us witnessed the rising of the Social Network APIs in 2009. Almost all the web services allow some form of API integration to other systems such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc.

The APIs have been still developed by developers and these useful API's won't leave our lives. Social Network APIs will make easier to use internet and be more easier to use than the heavy developer-centric system in 2010.

I guess it will be like a combo of everything given over there...it will have all the rich internet application, will give ease of life with all the online & INternet TV's. You will be able to be in contact with all the person whomsover it may be and wherever he may be in the world coz of social networking API's. And then you can pay all your bills and can have the security aspects. So that you can keep watch on all your important things from anywhere in the world...and then with the new innovation coming in conferencing you may save time for going to meetings from one place to another...and it can help to save fuel consumption also..

Today most of the big brands do not have e.com enabled websites with payment gateway configured on the same. Even most of the brands do not maintain their sites well and mostly the jobs are given to their media agencies who do a very basic job. If IT and tech cos takes over this job the online industry can grow a lot.

We at anmosoft have started a division called managed services and without any charge and based on pure revenue share we have entered in to MOU with various organisation enabling e.com and maintain and update the websites on annual contract basis.

I am confident as more and more players joins the initiatives, online e.com business will grow a lot as current online players are too busy in selling cheap and law quality chineese goods rather than promoting big brands.

to grow the business people do need offline help through call centers which we are providing to many brands today as part of MOU and also carry out SEO  to increase traffic.

Beside E-commerce more precisely E-business, social and professional networking, e messaging, online business promotion, marketing and advertisement, RIA which are already in vogue, next level of Internet revolution could see more of collaboration in geographically remote work places, where different professionals spread over geographically diverse areas would work together over various projects in real time.

Advent of Fiber optic's for internet (using Lazers)

idea posted by Vinay Chandel Biomedical Engineer

The optical cable will be able to transmit about 10GB/sec (both ways). This ultra high transmission rate will help both personal and business operations like sharing/editing files, movies(HD ,Blue-Ray) etc the sky is the limit. Not to mention, websites can be made more heavy (in terms of download size) so they can give better user experience encompassing all the above ideas.

A combination of academia, research and, scholar benefits

idea posted by Sue Elvins Project Management and Web Development

The Internet can be benefit a global scale just as much as it can locally. For example, as a Doctorate student I am in my now beginning my second year. I chose to take my PhD online rather than study in the classroom because it was more beneficial to me. I have met more persons that have provided me with guidance on leadership. I also believe the Internet will expand in the distance teaching area and there also will be an expansion with businesses doing more WAN so there is the capability of telework. Final thoughts, I feel the Internet will provide more capability to scholars and researchers so there can be seeking for matters of medicine, social behavior, and psychology issues.

a two way split?

idea posted by RAMESH KANDADAI Principal Consultant, ARM Consultants

I see the web going two ways both online service oriented. The back bone like always will remain surfing for info. But I feel that sooner or later it will split to high security and low security. High security will control most of work and banking and such things where as low security will involve more personal aspects like social networking.
