Connecting health care systems is challenging. Wide variations in clinical terminology, patient identification methods and systems architecture makes integrating health information exceptionally difficult. But if implemented, it will turn out to be the best service for doctors and patients.

Health Information Sharing

idea posted by Kaushik Dutta Product Development Manager, Biocon

In my opinion that a properly implemented ehealth facility can enable clinical data from disparate information systems, including medication history, laboratory results, radiology images and referrals to be shared between clinicians in a secure and private manner, helping physicians gain a more complete picture of a patient’s medical history.

Medical history would play a key role in decision making situation for providers. So a complete, secure sharing of information can avoid duplication of test, reduntant data entry and valid data storing, makes health care provided in better manner. www.healthlight.in

Patient Health Records

idea posted by Sudeep Tarafdar Senior Consultant, IBM

As consumers are increasingly engaged in their healthcare decisions, secure and reliable access to medical histories is critical. There must have a health record which provides a web-based system designed with privacy and security features that allow consumers to access their health histories and to collaborate with care providers. This kind of services will offer more values to the patients.

Patient Identification and Matching

idea posted by Bindu Narayan Product Development Manager, Care Biomedicals

Master Patient Index technology provides a comprehensive solution for matching patient records from diverse organizations. This technology helps to ensure that information is accurately matched, and is designed to maintain patient privacy. It is essential that physicians and patients trust that clinical information is matched with the right patient.

well, thats interesting.. it benefits both physician n patient..  nd also holds privacy..

i'd like to know more about that.. certainly, ehealth  can serve as the major source of information on different types of diseases, its pathology, its diagonosis as well as cure.. it could help researches to compare and demystify several complicated disease conditions.

Whole-Person Integrated Care Delivered via a Patient-Centered Life-Cycle Value Chain

idea posted by Stephen E. Beller, PhD CEO/President, National Health Data Systems, Inc.
Whole-person perspective focuses on improving a person's health and wellbeing by addressing one's physical health (body), mental/psychological health (mind), and the mind-body connection ("holistic" health). In other words, it views an individual as a whole entity, whose body and mind are interconnected. Integrated care involves multidisciplinary teams of clinicians and researchers who collaborate to provide cost-effective evidence-based care, which combines sick-care (tests and procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illness) with well-care (prevention and self-maintenance). In addition, a primary focus must be on delivering value to the consumer/patient by, for example, enabling and encouraging/rewarding the delivery of cost-effective (high-value) care. A description of the Patient-Centered Life-Cycle Value Chain is presented in a series of posts on my blog starting at http://curinghealthcare.blogspot.com/2007/10/path-to-profound-healthcare.html
