Branding expertise is very low in India. Manufacturers still think that branding means advertising, Indian manufacturers have the notion that advertising promotions with film stars or sports personalities as brand ambassadors will make the brand successful. They are yet to understand that the rational factor of the brand, which is product quality, actually gives consumers the confidence and motivation for purchase and repurchase. In the absence of this quality perception of branding, manufacturers consider branding to be some entertaining television campaign. Traditional retailers in India are more conscious about the brand than manufacturers are today.... |

Quality@customers satisfaction must utmostbut there must be a customer. Foccusig in advtabout your qualities ,ideas, vision and customer services leads the customer to the spot. After that one can creat a branding.Once branding is created still branding compaign is necessory to check the other players, because todays every players play fair pertaining to their branding.so branding and advts are go side by side process.
Yaah, actually you are very correct, Indian industries still dont differentiate between Branding and advertising, I personally feel like branding can be done without any sort of marketing, For eg. If you take a brand called Rolls Royce its an powerful brand but hardly you will find any promotional activities done by them, So branding is all about having very clear vision(focus) of what we are producing for whom, and how much, with taking utmost care of Quality and customer satisfaction.
To beat the foreign competition the first required thing is Customer trust and acceptability.
Branding is inseperable part of that but branding doesn't only mean advertising. Proper and planned branding stategy is required.
Quality is no doubt utmost important thing.
In a nutshell we can say that a proper harmony is required between the marketing mix.

Ever wondered how many new products emanate from India or how is India fairing in export of Quality finished products. The answer to your question lies in looking for answers to these two questions, quite simply. Thanks, Meena. |

If any one wants to compete with global brands, it would be with the strength of quality only. Other means will never help, of course some sort of vibration can be created, but to last/survive in the long run product quality, durability, and customer satisfaction are the vital points to compete with.
Thanks for the referral Ms. Meena
Can you think of a single good reason:
Why a country with unemployment and hunger should export Raw materials and depend so heavily on import for quality finished goods? even basics.
From metro racks to airport building blocks, even quality buses the list will can not be filled in months. Take the recent cases of metro failures while correction await swiss and french engineers because all components and systems are imported.

We do not have companies placing products the effective way, a lot of things go associated with this like product placement with promotion. Lack of proper Market trend tracking mechanism and demand supply analysis have caused lot of brands to be ineffective to its true potential.

To work on the versatile features of a particular brand can enhance the brand image not only in one nation, but can mark its image "GLOBALLY"

Adhering to global quality norms for products suited to local needs. Introducing customized products to suit local pallet can be done best by the homegrown brands only |

Home grown items needs to get a very wider visibility of its existence through media coverage. May be Radio F/M, TV & News papers to make it popularized locally. In turn, it augments the process of taking up the Brand to World area. Visibility is not seen anywhere we are in the Home grown brands. |

As per my view, Since medieval times India is an alluring destination as a market for other rich and industrial developed nations. Its handicrafts are much adorable and fascinated the whole world. All this kudos is for its high quality and uniqueness. but the Britishers destroyed the cottage and handicraft industry. I opine that India should proceed through these indigenous Industries and compete with other nation with High quality

to catch up with multinational brands and to cope up with the global environment the Indian firms are supposed to come up with new innovative products and some sort of creativity in these products. But this is not an easy task, there are many products available in the market with brand loyalty for them, and diverting customers from these brands to our products will really be a big deal.

When we observe the scenarios of past¤t trends branding is nothing but recognition/acceptence of a product globally about its quality and beauty in every aspect even in its usage. Advertising helps to elevate its popularity to some extent so it became a tool of branding. If we dont have good and quality product in terms of usage, innovation and technology, what ever is the advertising method we used will not be effective.

I think customer today is rational enough to search for a quality product and is willing to pay higher price for it.
Availability is also very important because recently when I went to buy a local made toaster,I found only Chinese made. Not even a single Indian brand was available in the big electronic market in Chandni Chowk,Delhi.I think Indian brands need to show their presence more,if retailers are not taking them because of higher price they should go for online selling.

Homegrown Brands, viz., MDH, MTR in masala segment, Medimix, Chandrika, Sandalwood soaps, Vicco Turmeric, Dabur, Hamdard, Nirma, etc. have set standards amidst stiff competition from other international brands. Government should propose incentives to promote such brands to penetrate in the rural segment, even more vigorously.

Homegrown brands can catch up with the global brands, if they can win the hearts of people who give higher rating to global brands for their qualities. homegrown brands can differentiate the products from the global ones in quality matter. with higher quality, differentiation strategy & positive market image through marketing tactics can lead the homegrown brands to overtake the global brands in popularity.....
