I think still many insurance co's don't have the products that cater these Rural market and hence unable to cater here. As for meeting their rural and social obligation, the insurance companies these days are increasingly tapping the semi-urban and rural areas to spread the message of protection of life and property through insurance cover, but that is not enough, Look at LIC & also the Government of India lately have introduced many special products aimed at the rural markets like Jan Shree Bima Yojana, Universal Health Insurance Scheme, Aam Admi Bima Yojana, Crop Insurance, etc. for the benefit of poor and needy populace in the country, I think even others also should follow this and introduce such products to tap the market and also provide financial cover to the general masses. |

BEST & TRANSPARENT COMMENTS BOSS!!
I feel that insurance companies should focus on coming up with simple products without much complicated terms that can be understandable by rural public and then educate them with the importance of having it. They should market simple products and target rural markets with proper distribution methods.
1. Innovation in products & processes.
2. Simplicity in the features of the products, the documentation, the processes, etc. For example, I don't think any rural customer will understand the complicated terminology of policy servie conditions. The propodal form can be made simple, the payment cycles can be made flexible, etc.
3. Relevant advertising & marketing. For example, how many insurers are advertising the awareness/products, etc in the programs/channels watched by rural folk? We see advertisements in Ten sports, Discovery, Sony Max but not in the sub regional specific channels. Even within the channel, how many insurance advertisements are seen in the agri-related programs?
4. Distibution channels. In stead of opening costly, high-fi offices in cities and tier II cities, the low cost offices can be opened in the rural areas. Also, incentives should be given to distributors who genuinely deal with distribution of rural insurance products.

However we see many products as well as companies available in market related to insurance. But till now i am not very much sure that everybody knows about the basic concept behind all products mainly in rural areas. I think proper communication in rural area about the product is only the idea to make insurance industry more reachable to general masses.... |

the main thing is that the insurance companies are not taking interest in rural markets except some of the company so it is necessary for companies to understand the rural insurance market so they know the need of rural market after that they launch products according to the rural market . |

I have been a financial advisor for over 24 years now, including an MDRT Member for 7 years, and Top of the Table Member for three years...where I closed over 100 lives for three consecutive years. I have been asked to speak nationally, as well as host educational Webinars on life insurance for thousands of financial adviors and insurance agents. The last one I hosted was an extensive review of the following:
I would be happy to share this information, or discuss it in great detail, with anyone who would like to talk more. I can also provide a copy of this presentation so you can see how helpful and educational it can be. HERE IS MY IDEA: I would like to suggest that we all HEAVILY promote an Educational Life Insurance Webinar, which I will be hosting, called: Learn Exactly How Life Insurance REALLY Works...in Just 45 Minutes. This Free Educational Workshop Will Cover:

My expeerience is that many people are not aware of the importance of insurance and the vital role it plays in one's life. In the rural and semi urban regions people are not educated enough to understand the conecpt of insurance. So the insurance companies should educate these people about the value, advantages and other importance of insurance to them. Also should come out with such packages that suit people of different walks of life. |

The way to make a reach vary on type of business and the market being considered. For more specialize types of risk this should be handled on case-by-case basis rather making an uniform approach. But if refer to personal lines products within targeted rural market, micro insurance would be a better concept. Tailoring life assurance on micro insurance basis have proven very effective when it launched in china recently, which targeted mainly farmers and fishermen. So in nutshell managers in insurance organisations should carry out proper market research program before deciding of which products to market to reach the targeted masses. |

yes, of course it should be mendatory for the private players in the market to open up 20% rural branches of its total strength with minimum 5 viable products for the rural mass.
