The IRCTC site is having performance issue as a big challlange. Early morning around 8 AM, the server is very slow and many times crashes due to overload. This is the time when Tatkal tickets are available for users to book online / at counters. Even over all performance of site needs to be improved in few folds and the they need to work more on data security. Anyone is simply steal your credentials can cancel any of your future booked tickets which is big risk. There should be another check for cancellation procedure. |

Agreed. Many a times the server reports extremely sluggish performance which result in transaction timeouts or "The server too busy" errors. Performance optimization is the first thing they should put on their improvement plans.

I believe, the most irritating part in IRCTC site is that, there are lot of advertisements on the home page than the informations. If iRCTC wants to improve the service they need to add useful informations to the public in the home page, rather than stuffing it with ads. |

Even I agree with the idea. The homepage appears too bulky. The font size is below normal. I am sure a person using the website for the first time finds it quite difficult to use. A person using it comfortably with a Non-IT background is par imagination.
Ya definately Home page should be designed properly.It should contain usefull information instead od advertisments.Its home page is not that much good.means some important options are are not clearly visible on home page.That's the only reason dt people suffer and they dnt make use of the options available to them.

During peak holidays seasons and during the first hour of "tatkal" booking, the server is too loaded. The site fails to work from 8 am till almost 8:45 when the tatkal booking opens. The site should be made more robust. Transaction failures are frequent and irritating. |

There are only limited credit card and Bank specific credit card options to book tickets from IRCTC site. This is very strange for an on-line service. It should be possible to book ticket with any credit card (Master or VISA) issued by any Bank. Besides the other issues already mentioned by the members like too Many ads, Poor performance etc makes it unattractive for consumers. |

the Ui of the whole process needs improvement. We do have the things in place like AJAX, Html 5 standards etc.. if given a thought this can surely improve. Also the lower bandwith requirement should be kept a high priority . Also the most important thing is the statistical information about the valiability of seats.IF one is geting it in waiting , the probability of getting it in RAC or getting it confirmed shoudl be shown.This statistical information generation with the probability concept can realy help IRCTC and give it an egde over other silly ticket booking sites . Something similar to google trends,if they can do it with thier searches ahppening all around the world why can't IRCTC ? .I know it will take lots of time and energy and serious minds to crack the algos and get them right but we do have best brains in IT ,do we not ? |

I feel
that IRCTC must make the site little more simple and easy to understand. It is difficult to find the starting point especially for a novice
user. As suggested by Ms. Mahalakshmi, there are so many ads on the
homepage, where the novice users may lose their way to correct
information and the next steps to do. |

Firstly, before BOOKING itself customer has to be shown whats the the extra charges of EACH AND EVERY BANK so that customer gets to know that by booking online how much money he can save instead by fuel used on his/her vehicle going to the station. Secondly IRCTC is not known still to many . They need to put ads on Social Networking sites such as orkut,twitter ,.etc because thats the hottest now for ADVERTISEMENTS. Some advertisements in theatres/multiplex while watching movies may also work out by showing how much time and energy one can save. |

The initial login takes a lot of time, the navigation sholud be very easy and should be made available for even dial up users. There are a lot of issues handling overload during holidays, to overcome this they need to check the maintenance of the servers. |

It is necessary to give a save option to save e-ticket. All time it is not possible to take print out.

IRCTC has to work on its online tatkal service so that it can handle the peak load at that time.It is really very hard & I think it's the luck that help you at that time. |

In my opinion, IRCTC can give the preference to its customers to set the payment option while creating the profile itself. There are too many payment options which comes at the time of making payments, and its difficult to understand which one is better. |

And many times after the payment option, it returns error message but your account has been debited. Most of the time we get the money refunded, but one has to keep track and check. The problem is inadequate infrastructure like the server load and traffic which cannot handle the traffic.
