The changing consumer behaviour in the digital age has forced brands and marketers to shift their marketing strategies to be unique and more flexible, including being able to have a quick response time.  The old style of marketing where messages are delivered by advertisers only is obsolete. Marketers now have to listen to what consumers are talking about concerning brands.   So, how marketers must adapt to the online world??

We all know that today the digital spending is seen more with more and more marketing strategies being seen on the Digital platform than the traditional media platform, today Social media marketing has more prominence than anything else and marketers are encouraged to use various media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to approach consumers, but negative buzz must be carefully monitored in these platforms if unchecked then there will be a negative WOM all of a sudden and by the time you realise the damage has already been done. So marketers need to control what consumers view.

Online or internet is a part of marketing communication media, so if you can reach your target customer segment, then internet marketing can be a very useful tool. For example:- Vodafone was advertising that it was reached 1 millions fans on facebook. Since they are targeting customers who are frequent users of internet so they are introducing such campaigns. This segment is valuable as it will buy their 3G services.

Mostly the branded items and price competitive items/ services are sold online, where customers already know the quality and price aspects in advance. The product based on new idea is difficult to promote even after digital ad spend. The reach with any media to the targeted segment with special emphasis on facilities and benefits to the customers if bought online, are to be highlighted. In absence of this the expected response may not be evident. For example, if I come across with a digital ad of desired Nokia handset with special emphasis on savings or freebies being offered as compared to others, I may be tempted to buy online instantaneously. Similarly any service which otherwise becomes difficult to avail may be easily sold online.

Now, if said some nice and take same nice photos, then everything can be good market in China's shopping Web ! No concerning about brand, just if you can make sure your quality it is same with some brand, or looks like some brand, and with very nice photos,also must be have crazy price, so will get crazy many order! Or if you kept on playing on television advertising campaign, so you can get a lot of order.

Marketers must go with the trend. They must appear online also, for better prospectus. Every channel / media will fetch some percentage of sales. In times to come as of now, on line appearance is a must. Expert shall design the web and post.

In our country the awareness of online marketing in general is limited so the best thing for marketers to do to promote products online would be to well research how the competitors are positioning their products online understand their best practices and improvise on the same to create your own value proposition, the idea is not to ape the strategy of competition but to smartly avoid re inventing the wheel.

I believe the old market survey procedure should be given a bye bye and the product must reach the masses. The same can be coupled by a better product promotion strategy, I could have used corporate jargon to communicate this idea but it is always good to keep anything simple.

As in regular mediums like newspaper, radio or TV, internet too has a lot of various mediums like blogs, facebook, twitter, etc to promote your message. One has to choose carefully and see whether the medium suits your brand. Also one has to carefully weigh the exposure that your brand would receive. It is too easy to go overboard on a new medium like the internet with little results. The best bet would be to try each method and check the success before jumping into it totally.
