Packaging is something that shouts “Look at me” to the customer who are passing by, just as important as colors. Packaging appeal at first sight, the packaging industry also faces new challenges. It is taking on a new lustre, like the FMCG sector and also in our Television company, to attract customers for over-the-counter sales. Today, that role is more complex, subtle, and important than ever as marketers see packaging as a key tactic in selling brands. How packaging plays a major role in brand recognition?

With more products vying for attention in a competitive market, maintaining a strong link between brand and packaging is important to secure market share, but at the same time companies must constantly update their packaging in line with consumer trends, regulatory compliance issues and evolving technology. Packaging is the first contact consumers have with brands. Just remember that 70% of purchase decisions are taken at the Point Of Purchase (POP). Only a few seconds are needed for the purchase decision

Its common that we all get carried away by the looks. We give 1st preference to what we see. So packaging is another way by which the consumers get carried away.

Why do people get carried away by looks ??? Any idea??

packaging a product is like dressing for human, so well dressed get good recepton so packaging plays an important role in brand promotion

A pack also needs to be supply-chain friendly, retail ready, while also adhering to regulatory requirements in regard to safety, product information and, increasingly, disposability. Environmental issues, mainly the use of biodegradable and sustainable materials, have a growing impact on package design and materials sourcing. While reflecting all of these considerations and maintaining brand identity, packaging also needs to remain cost-effective to produce.

Printing help good Packaging

In terms of design, recent fast and improved functional prototyping, or rapid and flexible printing, digital printing, are a big help to us being faster with innovation, These tools also help marketing to better judge the new packaging proposed, and also to perform faster and to be more efficient in consumer research.'

Health Sector

In the health sector, while there are specific norms and regulations to govern the nature of formulation, dosage, etc., there are virtually none as far as packaging is concerned, at least in India. Every formulation is unique and therefore requires unique packaging.

Yes it is, retail sees a huge demand in the urban crowd. And soon will have a better market in the rural too.  
Yes private label is one way to increase the margin. But it should not become a skimming strategy. Compared to fmcg, private label will work in food products because there is no standard price anywhere.........
