Focusing a portion of your marketing efforts on smaller, regional markets & prospective clients not only makes good business sense, but also helps you tap back in to your local market. Additionally, obtaining listingsof customers under a regional category will actually bring your business up. Ultimately, this regional marketing tactic approach will give your company good coverage on relevant business areas in a manner which is also highly accessible to one of your target markets. You can target your business 1very high with a regional approach. And by doing so begin to build a local clientele. |

Thanks for the referral Mr.Namrata. You are correct and i will accept.
My opinions are also in line with Mr Omprakash and Mr.Prodosh
Marketing the product could be broken down to- a) major cities / metros, b) tier 2 cities / towns and c) tier 3 or smaller towns. The information about the product could also be sepeartely addressed to get maximum conversion. Tier 1 or major metros could be carpet bombed. Tier 2 & 3 cities the focus for a product could be introducing the product in general terms, and then focussing on the company product and its charecteristics to get maximum buy in. ( more of evangelising the product) This is the way forward as the numbers come from there and also leads to building a better brand. Product example - Life insurance
Local marketing needs to be oriented towards the taste, culture of the people of that region. Marketeer should analyse and understand the choices, preferences of their main customers in the region and strategise marketing accordingly..A classic example is the marketing strategy adopted by some of the retail chains, or an atta brand from a leading FMCG company. The customers can easily relate to the product, if the marketing brings them the right information about the perceived 'value' of the product.
Does that mean there is no role for 'national' marketing? Of course, it's there, but it depends on the kind of products / sevices being offered. While marketing a staple diet the regional flavor helps, while for an automobile one will follow a national marketing approach.

Strength of product. avenues to sell , customers 'tastes, nearest competitors, their stengths, logistics for the area, accessibilty of market, type of distribution channelsto be adopted, are the major issues to be studied. Credit system in the market demand for the product, any gap in demand and supply. On making SWOT analysis planning should be done to enter the market. |

SWOT analysis is useful to know the health of a business. Businesses always grow regionally. How ever, the marketing strategy varies from region to region and who understood the concept develops in lightening speed.

The Rural Market / Regional Market, whichever way one puts it, HAS HUGE POTENTIAL. The best way is - DIRECT APPROACH / DIRECT MARKETING Get withn them, address them in their language, show the Product & its' Performance, give them the feeling of Importance & the rest will comparatively... A Cakewalk. The Telecommunicaton Giants, the Mobile Handset Brands, the Electronics Brands, the Supemarket Chains... the list is endless AND... They are not as Price conscious as we assume them to be. THEY WANT THEIR WORTH TO BE RECOGNISED... Sometimes more PAJEROS & MERCEDES ... SELL in the Regional Market, than in he Urban ones ( Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat etc. are great examples ) |

If we are really discussing on the Geographical Regional Marketing than I must say the Product offering from the Product Portfolio is the most Important Part that one shud focus on before starting any Marketing work... The Reason being the customer Choice, Preferences, tastes, likes and all changes with every Region... wether domestic or International... thers one more issue of Price control for the Product which depends on Affording Power of Individuals in the Specific Market... In order to go on Regional basis the Product made available shud be Best for the customer and shud be affordable... one can use than Market Penetration Strategy for achieving Max Market Share... So, I strongly feel the PRODUCT OFFERED MAKES MORE SENSE FOR REGIONAL MARKET AND PRICE BEING THE SECOND FACTOR.. |

All companies make their marketing strategies for whole Nation. Plan for regions/areas/target audience/market segmentation covered under national strategies which maybe differ from region to region.
|
|
we are not dividing the nation into region so i cannot support this idea i am still of the opinion that think nationally and comptete globally. |

The idea of national marketing is okay. However, the costs of launching products nationally may not be affordable by all. Medium sized companies and small FMCG marketers should focus on Regional Markets with an objective of creating a "niche" for themselves in these markets with sound PRODUCT-PRICING packages.
Hence, rather than the strategy of confronting the major players at the national level, the initial Strategy for such companies should be to take "a piece of pie" from the unorganised sector which is a major component of the Regional Business.
This will ensure better productivity for the money spent as also create a brand loyalty.
Consistency in focussing these markets is also important for establishing the brands.

Some time the models dominate and divert the attention. Proper wordings, images, media etc are very important. Avoiding models will position the product in a better manner.
