India should adopt sustainable energy policies to avoid endangering energy security and control carbon emissions. So the government should adopt sustainable policies, such as improving energy-efficient technologies and cutting carbon dioxide emissions. Because the challenge is global so solutions must also be global. How should India adopt sustainable energy plans and come out of this danger?

Develop Solar Cities

idea posted by Vineet Prakash Sales/BD Manager, Tata Power

In India, several cities and towns are experiencing growth in the peak electricity demand. Thus managing energy demand has emerged as a priority for the local governments and Municipal Corporations. Therefore a plan needs to be developed which would lead to reduction in conventional energy consumption, besides reducing enormous amount of CO2 emission in the atmosphere by way of using energy conservation and renewable energy devices and systems. So making use of the solar energy will help us to sustain the energy resources for the future.

Local Govt. and municipal sectors are not aware of nonconventional system of power generation.Hence they do not take any iniatiative.

Even if these systems are properly marketed at the door of builders with proper explanations then builders can acommodate these in their budget properly for making towmnships,Commercial Plaza

In cities where sun light is available almost always through out the year, even individual house holders van also think of using solar energy by producing electricity or even some other use. Also government could give some awareness about the same to peopl through local FM radio and other programs can be conducted by municipal corporations.

I strongly support both Mr. Vineet & Mr. Omkar. Strong and bold steps to be taken on this regard on war foot basis.

Go for renewable sources of energy than using depleting sources!

idea posted by Lingaraju Jaddivada Head International Marketing, Nagarjuna Fert & Chem

India has good reserves of  Mineral sources of Energy like Coal , which deplete on continuous mining and  could vanish after some point of time. Hence, there is definitely a need for improving the efficiency and reducing the waste.

There is opportunity to use renewable sources of energy like Hydro projects for generation of electricity, Solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, bio-energy, wave energy, etc.. These sources are never depleting and India has good sun shine and rich geography and biological cover to use the above sources of renewable energy.

Also, all of these energy sources are less or not polluting compared to the normal hydro-carbon energy systems in use today.

completely agree with bagla sir ...

bicycles ... wonderful idea ..

one can exercise , be fit , active and commute to work..

1

Let us popularize use of Bicycles on Sundays and holidays and Government declare holiday for petrol pumps on Sundays/holidays

Let all the schools hold Nature and Environment retreat for 2 weeks in Nature park and students given assignment on making eco-friendly products with prizes for best 100 or more to popularize awareness for environment protection ...

Solar Cookers/heaters must become the talk of the day for domestic use on a wider scale in rural areas and Government must give more subsidy and grants to manufacturers ...

Hydrogen is projected as the Fuel of The future ... Hydrogen in cylinders or some plant substitute or bio-fuel can be used with air/oxygen combustion in the automobile engine with little modification in the engine ... I feel it is good idea for research/experiment ...

I support this idea of installing solar cells over the roofs of railway platform sheds. Not only over the railway platform roofs, there are other larger govt building and govt large factories where the solar cells can be installed. For example if you put solar cells over a platform like Patna, then these platforms will also be illuminated in the event of no power time during nights which is very frequent. This is the starting which will be spread throughout among the common men. Slowly all the Indian villages will get illuminated, independent of conventional power authorities.

Recycle/reuse existing waste materials

idea posted by C Nijagunaradhya Planning engineer, Aarvee associates

Recycled concrete aggregates can be used for construction again provided some simple specifications are made.Lot of research has been done in the past.

Industrial waste products such as fly ash, rice husk ash, slag, crushed stone dust can be replaced in small percentages in construction.

Recycled rubber tyres can also be used again.

Govt should make a COMPULSORY LEED CERTIFICATION for the upcoming infrastructure of all types.

ENERGY WILL NEVER FINISHED TILL WE ARE LIVING

1. why we are still depend on man made material ?

2. why we are still depend on CNG , LPG , OIL , FUEL , PETROLEUM ETC., THINGS which cannot be there for more yrs with us

why we are not run to hold those things which are with us for whole life which can not never dies never born which walk with energy . why we are not using energy to operate each & every things like MOBILE , CAR , HOME ELECTRICITY EACH & EVERY THING

Because there is no lack of energy in INDIA THEN ANY OTHER COUNTRY.

LIGHT ENERGY , SOUND ENERGY , HEAT ENERGY

These three things LIGHT , HEAT & SOUND IS always be there till our life is there on earth and these things are always increases day by day not even decrease any point

so in our country where NATURAL THINGS are available at a huge stock which can never be finished or even they are only increases day by day then why we are not using these things to generate electricity to lighting each & every things

ADVANTAGES OF GENERATING ELECTRICITY :-

WE CAN easily remove the problem of electricity from all our INDIA.

this will to each & every person at their home , office , school , even on their walking

AGAIN I M REPEATING

ENERGY WILL NEVER FINISHED TILL WE ARE LIVING

While supporting your cause of reuse/recycle of waste materials, it is not enough ...

and it has to be supplemented/complemented by reducing wastage of any/every type in use/misuse (and greed) of natural resources in first place and also equitable distribution of - raw materials, energy consumption and items of mass consumption including water, food, clothing, vehicles for (of) transport, housing etc. together with sustainable processes, renewable resources of energy and products in manufacturing and expanding/increasing the green belt or forest area ...

Are we ready to do that and do we and our political and social leadership has the willingness/will power and determination to do the same ... ! THINK ... and lets do something to remove the obstacles ...

Many children are not only passionate about environmental issues, but more than capable of driving forward sustainability initiatives. Children already play a key role in becoming more sustainable by encouraging changes in behavior of those around them whether in terms of recycling, saving energy, growing vegetables and healthy eating etc. So education for sustainable development needs to be made a priority for schools.

sustainable energy plans

idea posted by Banwarilal Gadodia consulting, B.S.Gadodia, Consultant

Energy generation-Everybody including individual and govt should start generating energy from non fossil fuels like solar, wind, hydrogen, fuel cells, waves. In this also minimum land should be utilized. for solar energy generation, even two tier system should be adopted. That means wherever possible normal buisiness/process/farm activity should be done and above that solar power generation should be done. Because already we are acquiring lot of agri land for development purposes, SEZ, Logistics park, ports, industries. This is reducing agri land, then how we will feed the increasing population. We are already late in adopting this generation tech. All houses buildings should be constructed green. Having direction in such a way that sunlight is available at least one time to cook food with solar cooker. It is nutritious and healthy also. All buildings should be made to have compulsorily to have solar water heating system.

Saving energy-For small distances say upto 1 km people should make it a point to walk only unless it is urgancy. This urgency can be avoided by proper planning. Use of cycles also can be done. This will improve your health also. Once in a week at least one breakfast and one lunch/dinner should be of non cooked foods, like sprouts, salads, little greens, fruits, dates, etc. This natural foods will also keep you healthy also as in cooking we waste/burn the natural nourishments. All establishments and industries should be asked to have compulsory energy audit before submitting the annual report. And there are so many.

I agree with this idea. The generation of power from waste, either domestic organic waste or industrial waste should be closer to the consumer. The generation of energy should be made mandatory for industries and local civic authorities. This can be controlled at the district level. The manufacture and sales of polluting vehicles and machines should be controlled and if possible it should be banned and a strong public transport system to be created in large cities and metros. The RWAs can be included in monitoring the progress and efficiency of such jobs. It will improve the people participation also. Slowly this will definitely improve the energy availability and shall lead to better and pollution free environment.

idea posted by kawaljit kaur pgdbm student , Mount Carmel Institute of Management

in present scenario india is heavily reliant on conventional source of energy and for bringing in solar powered technology will require huge amount of investment which has been a major cause for why we haven't been able to make use of 300+ sunny days.but there can be ways by which resource depletion can be brought down but provided there should be govt. policies backing it up.thermal energy ,can provide an convenient option it can do wonders (if ireland taken as example).insupport of it govt can provide heavy tax sops,or chip in with ppp models .india have ample water resouces for carrying out  such projects(in fact its flooding in many parts, lol)n it have huge coast line either.(water level is going to increase in near future ,anyways)i hope i'm able to convey it properly(rookie).
