In current times, HR is into variety of activities, and key among them is staffing. Retaining employees should be a prime concern of the company because it has a major impact on the bottom line. Social networks have turned into fantastic recruiting mechanisms, demonstrating some of the exciting activities a company can offer potential candidates. In what other ways social media can be a backbone for today's HRM?

MIRROR PEOPLE

idea posted by Makrand Bhave Marketing & MICE, WIZCRAFT International

Social media is a platform where people try to be SOCIABLE. It is a mirror to the persons thoughts and habits. All the small things that the person likes dislikes are very openly stated. Use this platform to understand a persons behavior socially and to asses how his thought process is. Generally they also tend to be OFF GUARD and the nature of the person is also mirrored in some statements that he makes!!

I also have a small naging doubt because not all people are TRUW to their form!! So how much of it will be FACTUAL is still a question mark!!

Thanks for the regerral Gargi :))

I agree with u Markrand, as social networking has become a part of the routine activities they do, they see a good place to have a healthy communication and even to add their knowledge. we can use these networking sometimes to screen people 4 jobs, now most of the consultancies ask for orkut or facebook etc.. some ID and try 2 filter people there before selecting them. its new trend.

Eg:Among hiring managers who found information that helped to solidify their decision to hire a candidate, the most frequently cited positive pieces of information included:

  • Candidate's background supported their qualifications for the job (48 percent)
  • Candidate had great communication skills (43 percent)
  • Candidate was a good fit for the company's culture (40 percent)
  • Candidate's site conveyed a professional image (36 percent)
  • Candidate had great references posted about them by others (31 percent)
  • Candidate showed a wide range of interests (30 percent)
  • Candidate received awards and accolades (29 percent)
  • Candidate's face book profile was creative (24 percent)

Conduct survey

My suggestion is that HR people should make use of this fabulous tool for conducting survey on current situation & problem solving queries. They can also use this tool for creating new policies that would benefit both the company and the employees. Different People will participate in this kind of discussions & HR can decide on what steps should be taken.

Please give your suggestion too :)

I agree with my friend. The survey is the mean that help us to learn the tings in the market. We can come to know the requirement of the people and the problem faced by the people can also be known by the HR people. So always use the survey methods to know the right problem of the people.

I agree with Gargi. A HR manager can definitely use this tools which will help him in a big extent. Also he can learn the latest trends going on in the market through this more easily.
