Earlier when recession happened many blamed all the MBA people who were unable to handle the situation, as they didn't know what to do as never one had faced such situation before.

And in future we can see businesses getting affected by climate and environment changes, corporate governance, geo-political issues and redundancy, innovation and inclusive growth with environment empathy define strategies in HR, marketing, finance, and product design... almost every aspect of business.

This raises a question, that how students should be groomed to face different scenarios of market in future? Please share your views on this.....

Creativity should be introduced in subjects

idea posted by Leena Khade Banc Assurance, Deutsche Bank

Apart from the brand name and the past placement records, due weightage also needs to be given to aspects such as: subjects that inculcate innovation and creative thinking, ethnography, understanding of the digital economy and the changes it is fostering, leadership and environment related subjects / activities, the opportunities provided by the business school for a student to connect with people from different walks of life so as to be able to understand the changes in the social structures over time.

I will agree with your topic. lot of changes will required in the education system. as per the yaspal commitee introduced changes only for higher eudcation system is not sufficient, the changes required in the entire eudcation system.increse intern ship programs and indusrtail visits for each and every one . then the problem will be over come in the future

New Approaches to Education

idea posted by venky Freelancer, Freelancer

One of the greatest challenges facing educators today is how to prepare students for living and working in a rapidly changing world. The days of the single lifelong occupation are gone forever. Mastering the changing and complex opportunities of the work world will require providing all students with a broad, rigorous foundation of knowledge and skills.

Meeting this challenge demands new approaches to education. One promising strategy is an increased emphasis on the integration of academic and vocational learning. In this model, students not only learn to work--they also work to learn. By better integrating academic and vocational instruction and by carefully linking classroom-based learning to work-based learning, educators can raise the understanding and achievement of many more students--especially those who have difficulty with the abstractions of the traditional academic curriculum. Work-based learning provides opportunities to create exciting new learning experiences for students. Different kinds of work-based learning experiences must be provided, including internship, cooperative education, and youth apprenticeship; school - based enterprise; and activities that bridge classrooms and workplaces, including mentoring, job shadowing, and field trips.

Another strategy is bringing the world to the campus as a way to prepare students for careers in a globalizing world. As well as internationalizing the curriculum and drawing on international experience of teaching staff, programs and events to give students international exposure must be constantly considered. There is an immediate need to build awareness among students of different cultures, enhance inter-cultural understanding, and increase their knowledge & interest in world affairs.

Dear Vijay

Yes it is excessively tilted to prove every word in taught is ultimate and there is no scope for improvements ever. Thus marks even through cramming and not knowledge gets appreciated.

now how is the indian education......it starts in the morning and ends in evening...thereafter it's noway related to real life.students study for mark sake and the ultimate purpose of knowledge becomes a disaster.so the way we treat education should be changed such as grade system, life oriented education, assessment in a diff way...likewise it goes on...

Yes, include mandated apprenticeship.

As also allow subject and content choices, instead of getting stuck to tailor made curriculum's.

just teaching theories and principles in books is not enough. students should be trained and given situations where their ability can be tested so that they can be groomed so that they can improve. and stress should be given for creative thinking.

Aptitude

idea posted by Amit Midha Freelancer, Freelancer

Most of the industries take people in bulk and place them on various assignments without concentrating on aptitude. Short term profit sense sometime makes a person jack of everything and master of none. An organization can itself become a B School taking caring of each employee in terms of business growth. It is applicable to the employee also not to change jobs for minor jumps.

Just an addition to my previous thoughts the main problem is alignment of aspiration with local life. Companies can target the local areas to balance the local environments with given opportunities of international standard

Tailored programs

idea posted by Saad Bin Ahmed Manager Investments, Foras International Investment Company

I guess its the right education and the way it is imparted that needs to be restructred and that in itself will open new vistas for the business owners in designing solutions and for the students to get benefit from it.

In terms of education, the business schools lag pretty much behind what the business owner of today demands of the graduate. Although, internships are designed to somehow acquaint the student of the perceived challenges, but we all know how effective these internships are.

Another option is to bring the real life issues to the student earlier than when they are supposed to get in the practical life. In ourt part of the world, it is naturally the extent of competition that drives the whole lot. And quite often we find successful people who have actually started earlier. The success lies in understanding what's going around oneself and the mechanism of things happening all around. When one finds a complete alignment and synchronization with one's envisronment that's when change starts taking place and one can contribute more effectively.

Simultaion Teams

idea posted by Sujeet Vishwakarma Managing Director, RCA Group

Many MBA Colleges have come with this concept of Simulation games to give real time feel about the possible events in the Corporate environment.

All students made to team up and think on real time topics like:

If our company took a very big order, then the client backed off... what next?

If one of the management team is corrupt, all know it, but can't speak out.. what next?

I give you 20 lakh Rupees, Plan a business venture with all details you can.... with all specifics.

I believe this practice should be there with all the professional Courses.

Also real time Company Exposures seeing the workplace, and interacting with the People currently working in these environments is a blessing in disguise they can have...

Also if a person guides them, what part of their theoretical study can be correlated with which practical aspect. they will become much more employable, and job ready.

Well most of the MBA colleges that have come up are motivated only with one commitment that is commercialization of eduction, the purpose of MBA should be clear first - which is just not to get a job but something else ,

no matter whatever form of teaching is imparted it will remain the same, unless the purpose is directed towards enhancement of corporate world

As far as the method is concerned for grooming i would suggest the method of hand on training with practical approach, which should more of participative..

thanks

chandan

Parents also need to be groomed.

idea posted by Vikas Data Observation, TAC

I think apart from this, Parents also need to be groomed to understand their child and their capabilities in a better way so that understanding between child and parents improves. I think it wil help in providing a better mind set to the child so that the child can be more active and vigilant outside.

This will help parents to understand their child's aspiration and their needs. Before arriving at any solution in relation with child's future, parents should understand their child's capabilities and the field of their interest where they can do in a much better way.
