While a tuning fork is a perfectly acceptable way to demonstrate how vibrations make sound, it’s harder to show students what evolution is, how molecules behave in different situations, or exactly why mixing two particular chemicals is dangerous.
Digital simulations and models can help teachers explain concepts that are too big or too small, or processes that happen too quickly or too slowly to demonstrate in a physical classroom. Please do share your views on how technology is improving education... |

I agree on the point made by Arun. The whole point of technology is to be able to enable the facilitator to show things that cannot be shown in real time. Imagine I had to see an electron to believe it existed!!

Technology in the days give the high end solution of every subject. The multimedia and Animation is increasing rapidly and as the aurn said we can make the model easily. But what really strike is the human behaviour. We are always used to learn and remember the things easily that we have seen rather then study. The working we will seen clear the doubts. But on the other side i must say that it will deeper the doubts too. As in case of molecule new theory are producing about their structure, if the students learn the old model and will see then new model their will be a cross connection and a confusion will arise. So beware Technology is useful but dangerous too.

One of the key issues plaguing our education system is the 'question answer' oriented approach. How often have we seen high scoring people (considered bright through various measurement metrics) have very little understanding of the concepts.
Technology has the ability to make students 'Understand' and hence able to 'Answer questions' rather than the current process of knowing the answer without having an understanding / knowing the concepts.
This in my view, is a key benefit of technology and I hope that this will enable 'more knowledgeable' and 'practically oriented' generations coming ahead.

The potential of Technology and Web in education is vast and is going through rapid and practical developments and deployments, from a computer to tablet, cloud computing and teachers linked to students online, specialized applications for teching students of special need, numerous websites providing educational resources are just a few examples. Many more new applications are on the anvil of deployment and will soon be visible in the market. In my opinion both Technology and Internet are acting as a catalyst in providing effective and efficient education however will never replace the human factor involved in education. I strongly believe that these will continue to complement and support and will definitely be more specific and specialized in thier approach and will make the education more effecient and effective. I also take the opportunity to share that a new website has been launched www.studychamps.com which provides online and interactive resources for K-6 students.

Nice post Arun......really good one we need more technology usage interms of our education, we didn't have these privileges but today's kids are having so much of opportunities, and there are so many free open source softwares which can be taken by teaching staff and incorporate them in their teaching methods. Models and simulations, beyond being a powerful tool for teaching concepts, can also give teachers a much richer picture of how students understand them. For example if you can ask students questions, and multiple choice questions do a good job of assessing how well students have picked up vocabulary. “But the fact that you can describe the definition of a chromosome doesn’t mean that you understand genetics any better, it might mean that you know how to learn a definition. But how do we understand how well you know a concept? |

Technology enables self-paced learning at his will. Technology also enables two-way communication, multi-mode communication for group discussion, moderated discussion fora, help desk services, and many more which a college or school environment cannot offer.

One of the most important shift is from content to Context. Earlier, we had trouble finding content which are easily availbale for all of us. So the winner is who focus on Context

Earlier students had to go in search of books for their study purposes. But these days everything is available in internet, whether it is a guide, story, MR Report, Clinical Report, Thesis Report, Exam paper....Whatever material you need for reference is available in the internet, students just need to search them with proper keywords, that is it. The internet technology has made the education part better and competitive.

They should be punished.. yes .. but who will punish them.. big question isn't it.. let us stand up and go against them.. create an Egypt in India.. Will we do that?? No we will wait for world cup and than T20 to end and then something else... |
May be, but I don't think they would fit into corporate field. Corporate workplace is very different for what they have worked. So fitting into it is very difficult. |
Gone are the days when students used to sit in a class and a teacher used to take a class which consisted of nearly 50 people in it, irrespective of what students learned after each hour a new teacher would come and take a different subject.... |
