Female foeticide in India has assumed alarming proportions. Latest figures indicate that there are 933 females to 1,000 males in the country. The government is trying to step up efforts to tackle the menace. Rallies to raise a voice against female foeticide have become a common occurrence in India. The country's alarming sex ratio is very much under the normal average. This means that discrimination against girls is still prevalent in society despite ongoing efforts to curb the menace by government as well as non-government organisations. |

Yes,
General Public, leaders of all sections and communities, NGOs and everyone in the society has tremendous responsibility along with the Government, in this heinous social practice.
Both govt. and public need to work together to stop female foeticide . INDIA is a country with rich and diverse culture which can work as a Unit to stop female foeticide. Public can work to help the govt. in executing all the measures possible to improve declining female to male ratio.
It is a serious concern and we all need to work together to stop it.
It probably needs both the government and the individual to work together. Well the government or medical practitioners could do us a favour by not engaging in extraction of female foeticide in the first place even if it boils down to monetary greed under extreme cases.
Talking about the individual, hope sanity prevails in terms of acceptance of a of newborn female foetus in general. Hope people live and learn to understand that the poor innocent mother does not deliver the same on purpose as its more of a scientific & biological process that takes place within her body and neither can she be discriminated either because her better half also happens to be a part of it.
Furthermore talking about facts and figures would blame lack of education for such dastardly acts which take place in rural areas...

Govt should provide incentive to the Girl child, this is one of the method where we can prevent female foetecide. The Govt and NGOs should work together in implementing serious action plan for girl child development. For example Karntaka state is provide some incentive like life insurance and education plan for girl child. These type of monetary help will prevent female foetecide. Other incentives such as good education, food, clothing and some free journey tickets can help. |

Consider the main reasons for the female foetecides in India,
- the unability to pay dowry
- considerin female as a burden
- fear of her protection
- the under estimated power of females.

Illitracy is the most dangerous problem we have in our nation today....Eradicate Illitracy and everything would be solved....I know this is the most basic problem and has to be removed from the base so gonna take a lot of time but I think thats the only one and best solution the govt. should think of and take some steps towards removing illitracy. |

I do not support the idea.
Why is it so common in Delhi, Haryana etc especially amongst the rich and well "Educated" people ?
It has only got to do with the mentality and not so much with so called education.
Those who have ill acquired wealth indulge in such practices and such persons are to be found in plenty around Delhi because it is the center of all politics.
Illiterate people seem to be more considerate than doctors and engineers residing in the national capital. I prefer illiterates to the pseudo educated uncivilized persons.
In the long run, spread of literacy (actually, education) could be the answer to preventing female infanticide as well as dowry deaths and other forms of destruction of the womankind. These practices have a long history in human societies and would require sustained efforts. Government does try to do many things; members of society also need to do their part.

In india this practice is very popular and specially in rural and Govt. has started various projects but still people are not understanding the disastrous outcomes the following generations will face. There are various reasons why people are still following these type of practices like they think a boy can look after them during old ages etc. etc. but the major 1 is the dowry because majority of population in rural is still living poverty besides various other reasons and the more you get aware of such problems the more you get confused but they all are linked like joints in chains. So these are roots of such problems and govt. must take strict actions against these roots and the problem will get solved by itself. |

India has already baned detection of sex. However this is not implimented seriously as with some privilage the doctors do let u know about the sex. Govt and NGOs should come together and fight this sex detection. |

Though quite a tedious and time taking process, but there is no substitute to the solution of " creating mass awareness ". Govt machinery will have to put in serious effort to create awareness among the mass about the imminent threat of gender imbalance. Any incentive or law cannot be a permanent solution to the problem. |

women empowerment is possible if everybody will aware about rights. removal of women foeticide can not be possible without awareness.one thing i want to mention the people who talk more about boys to carryforward their names, its very shameful when we asked them to tell the name for their grand to grand father.they will not be able to do so.So why they need boys than girls who do not know the names of their ancestors

The Government, in the name of secularism, has only helped to increase the atheistic tendencies of the population. This has resulted in so many evils and female foetecide is a result of such atheistic education. It is strange that in so called educated places like Delhi, Haryana and Punjab it is so common. Education must include training on the basic principles of existence : called sanatan dharma. Without passing a test on Bhagvad Gita nobody should be allowed to clear the 10th standard. All evil practices will get curbed automatically. |

Well.well.well. Before all thinking of sanatan dharma and make it a compulsory, we should at least comment on what foreigners think. Let for example what Bill Gates think? I don't think he would have ever got time to memorize God, but no word from him would ever conclude any dispute on the above mentioned thoughts and ideas. We take any news or rumor from somewhere and then on the basis of it, we declare a result. Compulsorily applying bhagwat gita or such entities would not help. This would also be taken the same way by the students as history or other subjects, if they are not interested in it. Self-realization is the important thing.
And after-all we should not forget sanatan-dharma is what we "The Indians" especially had been focusing on from early times. Realizing any-thing that we learn and searching for the reason of it's occurence and up-keep is essential.

Stringent rules should be imposed as far as the violence against women is concern. We call our This is not the total responsibility of each and every citizen to take care of their mothers and sisters. Even government cannot do much it the situations are not improving ethically. |

The fedualistic society, its means of production and ownership pattern of such economy are the enemies. The feudal type of society does not give equality of women. They are barred from shareing wealth of the family and thus lowers women dignity. They treat women as a second grade member. In the Eastern part of India, this is just the reverse. Govt may bring laws - but that may not change the society pattern. |

govt.should appoint some competent authorities which will only be responsible for awareness among youth of the country.moreover if we talk about removal of illiteracy its just not workable because more number of individual involves in female foeticide are the educated ones |

Merely spreading awareness will not do. This the govt. has been doing for quiet long time. The result we can all see for our selves. Now more strigent measures like capital punishment to all the parties concerned, is required. What we need to do is if possible include a subject in the curriculum highlighting the need of the females to the society. Non regularisation of those clinics in which such practices are done. Not only sealing the clinic but taking back the license of the doctor concerned and capital punishment and a moetary fine. Periodical surveys of all the clinics, diagnostics centres, Nursing homes and small hospitals and hospitals located in the farflung areas. We all know where all such practices are done. Giving award to those people who report such matters to the police and the govt. agencies. |

Govt must eliminate all discriminating factors like minimum per day wadges for male & female are currently different. Govt should withdraw the license of Hospital / Nursing home / Doctor caught even in a single case of sex detection; direct or indicative. Every city, people know where they can go for sex determination But agencies are ignorant or act ignorant. Govt by activating agencies can save 50% of girl foeticide. After GOD it is only mother who can generate rest all is merely the transformation of one into another, that is why mother is next to GOD. Even if cloning is possible tomorrow, you need ova from a female to do the cloning. Man alone can't produce its clone but a woman can. Respect women, practice equality rather than talking equality... I appeal to women first, please stand against it, shout against, show your dis-agreement; foeticide is not possible without your involvement. Then I appeal to everyone that if a female seek your help for protecting her child, please stand, gather support seek legal help and protect the child & mother... |
