How mentoring creates a competitive advantage is a validated question but why mentoring is necessary is also a deep-rooted issue to be addressed. With stiff competition existing between IT organizations and it becoming much more tougher with the time to come, the organizations should make headway for executive mentoring. The active mentoring of the employees enables an organization not only to succeed at a local level but also helps it to acquire a global foothold. So How your organizations mentoring employees to achieve competitive advantage?

Adding to what Mr. Chandran said Mentoring not only helps organization to have a competitive edge over others but also helps the employees to plan their career and also root for succession planning in the organization they work for.The organizations should geer up to provide the right kind of mentoring, to be an employee motivator and to be the devil’s advocate. An organization can be an useful guide, a companion, a therapist and a repository of valuable information to an employee. So if organisations want to have an edge over others they should guide their employees towards right direction.

Working Culture

I feel the organizations in order to foster the competitive spirit among their teams, should do so by breaking the age-old pattern of working and instill confidence in them to do something new. They are offered something extra apart from their usual salaries. They are offered perks and incentives beyond the normal salary structure. They are even given chance to grow in their profession.

Employees need motivation to perform. Organizations should strive hard to increase the motivation level in the employees by consistently monitoring and mentoring. Mentoring is training and raising the core competency levels.

Creating a Challenging Work Environment

I could say the employees are assigned work which offers enough challenges to be on the job and learn new things. For example, employees who are unaware of the new technologies can be trained to learn on innovative technologies, on the latest products and henceforth make themselves adaptable to a new work environment.
