I think you should identify who the project stakeholders are. They can be individuals or organizations. Make a list. If in doubt, include them. You can always exclude them later on. Including them later on becomes more difficult and understand what their interest or requirements from the project are. You may not know this at the time you identify them to be a stakeholder but you need to find out. Produce a list of questions to ask the stakeholders. Clearly establish what their requirements are. Avoid second guessing and at the same time beware of raising expectations.

Ya I completely agree with you as stakeholders are those who have power to prevent the project from achieving its full set of objectives and potentially may cause the project to fail.So it is very necessary to identify & understand what exactly stack holder wants.The main motive of any project manager is to maximize the stack holder wealth.

IT project management is a sub-discipline of project management in which information technology projects are planned, monitored and controlled. In this few extremely successful and they are able to achieve things with out having to dig deep into tech details. They lean on their tech head to solve all the tech issues pops up in the project.
He/she must communicate with the project stakeholders and should make some analysis work before having any sort of discussion like stakeholder and their business front and their domain analysis stuff like.
Tech analysis alone will not help to complete the project. Project manager should understand the business process of his/her project stakeholder. Stakeholder interested in the project and he/she pay the money for the value which we are going to add to their business.
Project manager is the one who should avoid heavy load of work, re-work and should avoid unwanted functionality.
The Project Manager needs to first identify all the project stakeholders before starting a project. Perform Stakeholder analysis. Take down their expectations and convert them to requirements. Communication is the base of any project. Understand when, what, and how is required by stakeholders. Communicate, communicate, and communicate...
Baseline your scope. Keep all your stakeholders in close loop and report to them the true status of the project. Proactively work towards your project scope, time, budget, risks, and quality through periodic reviews and do not let any of these deviate from what was planned. If you practice your processes then you would be able to deliver your project within the project constraints and satisfy your stakeholders.

Empathy and deep understanding of the viewpoint is crucial - it will drive the project manager to focus on the critical areas of the project - things the stakeholder really cares about for the project. End of all, the stakeholders also have an emotional "stake" in the project and if the project team identifies with it, success will be given. The difficult part is to navigate the multiple stakeholders expectations. |

I always suggest that stakeholder management is the initial stage of risk management. By identifying attitudes and the possible risks you are looking to prevent "issues" from arising. How many times have you been involved in a project and you know there are tensions but have done nothing? If you do speak to stakeholders it will help to identify attitudes and risks. If it is Failure to carry out it can lead to major problems for your project
