We all have been in a situation at work  were it seems that the other guy gets all the praise even though you do most of the work? This is commonly referred to as Favoritism in the Workplace and it happens a lot.

So, how to avoid favoritism so that there is always win-win situation?

You must have a positive attitude at work and you need to make sure you are appreciated for your skills and if you are not because of favoritism you need to know your options.

Hi!!!!!!!,

We as human always wants to feel a sense of belonging, but we can get it evertime,  somtimes we feel that even after doing good work we don't get the recognition for the same, and someonce else who was was hardly involved get the applause, it's the fact in todays world, & I feel everyone would have faced the similar situation.

I feel in these situations, it's better we just concentrate on or work & waite for the right time, as it's very true that no one can outshine ones sincere effort.

Thanks,

Adarsh

In my opinion "work" should be more important other than anything. We get paid to work. Also if we concentrate on other issues will led to nothing but increase our own stress level and waste of time

It is not so easy to avoid work place favoritism. To avoid this, the boss or the immediate superiors should be unbiased and should be a team builder.

Professionalism is very important.  You will be able to take things straight  enough to face unwanted  sentiments.  Your ability to absorb  all sorts of isms  improves  without any sort of indigestion  of feelings.

Quality work and good communication channel

idea posted by Vinay Mudgil Sr. Application Developer, Computer Sciences Corporation

I think that no one raise any question or bestow any favourism [which affects an individual] until a person does quality work and has good communication channel with his/her manager and within the team.

I strongly feel that though its important to be involved in workplace happenings [politics] but its even more important to avoid making it a habbit.

The ultimate lesson is work and work only...

Thanks,

Vinay

Proper feedback system & 360 degree appraisal system.

idea posted by Akhilesh Kumar HR Officer, Hayat Communications
To avoid work place favoritism, company must have proper feedback system… all employees should update their work in real time manner that means on daily basis and this update should be visible to all reporting seniors and peers. And there should be proper appraisal system. .. and I feel 360 degree appraisal system is one tool which can avoid favoritism at work place… if company has 360 degree appraisal system then employee will not think only one way and will not do partiality because somewhere in employee’s mind it will be there that other person will also rate at the time of appraisal.
