What might make an employee unhappy ?.
* Unfair rewards and recognition
* Office politics
* Un-cooperative team
* Unreasonable boss
* Insufficient compensation etc etc...

Being happy is always in your hands. A happy employee is more productive and gives more than an unhappy employee.

So let's look what can one(employee) do to up the happiness factor.

A man is a best judge of himself,so goes the adage.One of the prominent reason for the employees being unhappy is their contribution gone unnoticed.These are times when he himself should pat for his achievement.It will boost his morale and also improve his performance.Moreover if he continues to contribute significantly,  it cannot be ignored for long.Another reason is jealousy.AS they say in Three Idiots "It feels sad when you find your friend has failed but its agony to see him at top". We are not not unhappy for what we have but we are unhappy for what others have.So the best bet under these circumstances would be to wear all De Bonno's hats together and see impartially where you exist and how to improve upon rather than dissecting others' achievement.

Take up a sport

idea posted by Rajender Sharma Senior Consultant, Softwell

Take up a sport.It is danger of becoming addicted to sports where there is less physical activity like computer games, chess, cards etc..So while choosing sport make sure that there is much physical activity as it will keep a person happy and healthy,.If you are doing well then can represent your organization too..

Accept the mistakes you have done

idea posted by Rohit Khanna Project Leader/Managing Consultant, Accenture
Don't blame others for the mistake you have done and also don't blame others blindly if something goes wrong, truth cannot be hide for a long time, Accepting your mistake gracefully will only make you look like a true professional and also give you the satisfaction of not cheating.

to be a happy employee one should love his work..he shouldn't consider it to be something which he is bound to complete before leaving the workplace however at the sametime he should make sure that he takes out time for his family.

For an employee to be happy, first of all he should be contented with the Job he is entrusted with. Yes liking a job is important. Confidence in discharging the responsibilities helps in developing self esteem which makes him happy.

Repeated preference over non deserving candidates

idea posted by neha singh Content Editor, Avestia Corp

I have seen that managers repeatedly favour failures or problematic employees over meritorious ones. I don't why, but they go to the extent of giving all that the deserving candidate needs to the nondeserving one. This leads to a feeling of favoritism and prejudice, and ultimately leads to reduced faith in the employer and his skills. Also, you won't believe it, but some managers help employees because of personal favours, and merit has no role to play in all this. I feel the boss of the boss can break this terrible cycle and restore some faith in the system.
