In India it actually has still to get popular, but citizen journalism is doing really good here, And new mobile phones like smartphones really helps in this regard, as it helps many news sites to cover the stories in a much better fashion, just because with all the new Mobile phones that are there at the moment, which have put relatively high-resolution cameras into the hands of millions of people, have created some of the most powerful news images in the past 2 yrs. From footage of the shocking impact of the Tsunami and then the recent 26/11 attacks which were captured on many mobile phones by the public were very helpful to cover the news effectively. And according to me to be Mobile journalist we need new Smart phones that are there out in the market and with online news getting popular one has a real good chance to become a mobile journalist. |

Good idea Ms.Shankar. With the emerging technologies like 3G,mobile has become a powerful tool in traditional communication.Smartphones would help the data transfers in short time and thus play an effective role in mobile journalism

It is seen that there is a small difference between a citizen journalist and a mobile journalist, its just that citizen journalist have a platform to put their news on many sites which are promoting citizens to provide news and content for the site, whereas mobile journalism will be actively partnering with news sites to cover the news as you have given in the description, there is no use if you are putting a lot of effort to capture a news and your news not getting posted on the news website... so first try out to be a good citizen journalist and to do that one needs be having real interest in covering the news stories, and should be able to come up with a quality content, so one needs to be very strong in terms of communication skills, and should develop all the traits that news people possess, with that tricky angle they come up with and of which they create the whole drama on news channels, if something like that you are able to come up with then for sure you can be a good mobile journalist, and its just not about having fancy smartphones, i am not against the Idea of Ms. Kavita here but just by having mobile phones will not help to be a mobile journalist. |

A journalist is always prepared to capture any sudden news he comes up with. Any citizen, if wants to be a journalist should first learn journalism. i.e, sudden and immediate capturing of news wherever he gets them. A common man should immediately capture any exciting thing he comes up with, make a report and always try to make them reach the proper destination. If the news is exciting, who knows, in the long run, he may become a very big and popular journalist...
