In my opinion, it is very important to speak or communicate to the employees in a respectfull manner. If shouting or speaking harshly to employees is done, it would discourage the employee and would not inspire an employee to want to do their best for the company. Verbal and non-verbal behavior in business and life is very imporetant for one's success in life and career. |

Verbal Etiquette and respect is very importanct these days in dealing with collegues and subordinates. This quality would automatically enhance other qualities to be a "boss"...
good for nothing , suave , attractive ,smooth manipulator
I agree with this idea. Open communication with respect is important and one of the key for leadership (the other idea which I voted as well) and management, especially in flat organization with enpowerment style works better unlike traditional "control" style. But this is the very importancy for bos is faithfull or not.

managing by results is fine, but people produce results if managed well emotionally belonging to the place feeling humane and secure in relationships with openness and fearless while communicating - while feeling continuously involved with a shared mission and well informed with a word of constructive feedback and a genuine word of appreciation from time to time with suitable upward exposures - not being manipulated or half informed or distanced from what is happening or using team members against each other tactically, etc
people have potentials and look for opportunities and learning/coaching, learning at their own pace, which needs to be facilitated by the leadership offering appreciation, and growth oriented assignments towards self-fulfillment from time to time in areas of personal interest and capbailities - and not looked upon merely as operational resources to accomplish just organisational day to day goals on a supervisory basis with quick impulsive reprimands - rather manage the grid of team capabilities and emotional structures in a seamless integrated manner for team effectiveness and togetherness in an apolitical fulfilling humane environment. regards!

Among the subordinates there may be some “Deadwoods”. Deadwoods are non-performers / under performers. They lack motivation and commitment. They are like non-performing assets (NPAS). NPAS are drain on the organisations’ productivity and profitability. All efforts are made by the organisation to convert these NPAS into Performing Assets; and if efforts fail, the provisions are made and ultimately the assets are written off. Similarly Managers should identify deadwoods among their subordinates and provide them all opportunities to convert into Performers and if they fail, they should part company. No organisation can afford to carry “Deadwoods”.
I couldn't agree more with you, Mr. Shantaram! What you have described is an ideal boss each of us should be lucky to experience and learn from in our careers :)

The most important that a person needs to perform is confidence. This is much more important than infrastructure and another perks that one might be receiving. An employee without confidence is like a power generator without the fuse.
A good leader, therefore is one who is able to enthuse this confidence into his team members and, hence motivate them to do not only things they are capable of, but also go much beyond that.

As all have a concept about our boss where we work. So he must be a person with good calibre to drive us, to get support of everyone. He should be a good supporter of the employees because if there is a feeling that our boss is with us they will be motivated to work for the organization lead by him. He must be a person who think always positively because even negative happens he must think positively then only the others can also perform for the best. He must also a learner from mistakes which also motivates the employees to work hard for him. So our boss must be a person of POSITIVE ATTITUDE, GOOD SUPPORTER, CALIBRE, LEARNER FROM MISTAKES |

Boss should be initiator, lead by self example and most practical guy/gal bcos thats most relevant and mandatory for survival in today's recession filled professional life. All talks of good behaviour on his/her part are totally irrelevant. My sincere advice to all employees - keep good/nice behaviours at home when you leave for work bcos the place out there is virtual rat race grand prix track. SURVIVAL OF THE THICKEST( Thick skinned). |

Leadership can be justified at its own stance but respect is something that is very basic requirement for any employee .as its rightly said:Give respect ,take respect.

"Objectivity": Team members will always look up to the boss in a situation and pick things. Boss/manager should have data in hand to handle any situation and this can be had only when he is driving the team objectively towards the team goals.
"Ethical" A leader should always be a of a strong character who drives values thus setting standards. This will have a positive impact on the team members. Boss should always discourage partiality/favoritism and guide the team on a rational path

Managers, need to manage themselves in terms of change in their attitudes, if they want to manage and develop the motivation of their subordinates. The work place can be seen as a place where employees come to satisfy their ‘Motives’.“MOTIVES”,are the engines that energise and direct the behaviour of employees Managers need to find out what their subordinates need. What their ‘SELF-INTERESTS’ are? |

Time have changed that you cannot build a team with out each member decides to be a contributor. It is no way you can dictate, you can give directions. So the idea is that the Team leader is who arrange all the facilities for the team to perform well, and give back ups.Being a mentor is another good aspect. |

Any manager should be able to protect his team from external influence, and should provide a cushion to team. At times of pressure one must not be behind the team but leading the team from front. Team members should not felt vulnerable to external and intra team pressure.
