I agree with you. Keep people informed of what you are doing & involve only in what you are asked to do. In both the things , your work is registered by the concerned.

Yes you are correct Mr.Anand.Showcasing the contributions are very important. One should be able to expose himself/herself in a proper way through appropriate presentation to have a better appraisal.

In the self-appraisal, if you can bring about your credentials vis-a-vis the objectives of your organisation, bring about the gaps, if any, and propose future course of action to correct the imbalance with timeline, honestly, you can automatically build your own case without any problem, in an objective environment. If you have people below and above you, who are problem mongers, then you got to camouflage your role in such a way that you would not get overlooked for promotion, incentives, etc.

Most of the companies have strategy of making Annual plan for the organization and as well as individual. you organize your achievement with your plan with required clarification and justification (even for failure) to show the uniquness of process. Then it would be definitely your boss call on rating your performance. It is different scenario if your boss doesnt oblige your case of success!!

Its good to compare the achievement and improvement of results with previous appraisal,so we can identify the lacking as well as improvement in current appraisal,according to that we make our journey to next appraisal also
