Experts say that the trouble is in not making mistakes, but in not accepting them and knowing how to deal with them. In a professional setting, people are more focused on covering up their mistakes so as to protect their jobs.


So, how to go for correcting workplace mistakes & moving on......

Tension free work atmosphere

The environment in the office should be relaxed so that an employee feels safe. Only in such an environment can he/she own up their mistakes to their immediate supervisor or any other supervisor in that case. They should be able to share a relationship with the supervisor based on trust and faith, so that they can admit the mistake without any fear in their minds.

Yes, it is very true that tension free work atmosphere leads one to develop his/her own skills,  to develop new ideas and also it helps the organization to go through more and more growth options.

Did you know that many human errors are actually due to a mismatch between the way that human beings think and work, and the design if the systems they are required to work with?

Categories of Human Error

Learning Gap: don’t know -> lack skill or knowledge, or insufficient understanding of consequences

Memory Gap: know don’t remember -> unable to use skill or knowledge at time/situation required

Inconsistency: “Know” but variability in method/standard -> inconsistent performance/results

Application: know but applied incorrect action/info -> slip, wrong outcomes, transcription errors

Omission: know but missed a step/action/info/difference -> missing info or step, used wrong item

Decision: wrong decision given situation/info -> inappropriate decision and/or behavior

s...it is........ hence training during joining, proper guidence for first few months and then proper followups  could lead to good results.......gaining knowledge and continuosly improving on that is also important......accept the mistakes done.......situation can be a lot better..

If you are not comfortable with your work it can results in to mistakes. to reduce the mistakes you have to learn whole activity, to learn whole activity you must have curiosity to learn and for curiosity you have enjoy what you are doing whether it is interesting or not. it not only helps to reduce the mistakes but also generating new ideas.

mistakes are only those from which we learn nothing. so if we commit a mistake we should recognise it, rectify it and in future avoid it.

yes you are correct. Whenever anybody commit a mistake he/she have to think how it happens and then to solve mistake. Try to avoid that mistake again & again. It,s not crime to make mistake but repeat that mistake again & again is hamper your progress.

To correct mistakes needs a person who can identify the mistake before it impacts the work or way before the mistake is executed....This is possible if right people are in right place with right technology,assisting them.

It is understood generally that good managers are people who have good managing skills....but i think its not sufficient to carryout work smoothly with min. "human errors".....So if a manager is has good managing skills and a sound technical background then I think he can lead his team is a right direction ...since he can see the future and get the right people and right technology in place for the projects undertaken.

instead of giving explanations, blaming others first thing v accept that we also can do mistake inspite of our knowledge and experience. once this comes, we can take responsibilty for our actions . now only possiblity of improving or learning from it arises. i feel it would be inteligent to keep this possiblity in my life no matter how much i experienced or knowledged

It is the onus of the HR department of an organisation to foster a culture whereby employees not only confess their mistakes, but also take lessons from them. Leadership and communication skills play a major role here. Those in the leading positions need to be trained to handle such tricky situations.

When a subordinate opens up to his/her senior, in a quest to confess a mistake, the senior needs to determine the future actions and behaviour of the employee. Appreciation for owning up the mistake should be followed by encouraging the employee to think how such a situation can be avoided in the future
