Guys the main focus of a B-school interview can range from specific questions about your job to broad discussions on life.  It may be about your hobbies  your recent trip, but then this doesn't mean that the interviewers are not serious or anything like that. It just means that you are being sized up as a person and a future professional in all your dimensions.  So keeping this in mind, How to crack a personal interview, share your knowledge on this...

Don't waste time

idea posted by Arun Sarin Business Analyst, Oracle

One Interview mistake most people commit and even which i committed in my early days were, explaining the same thing that is there in the Resume, Don't waste time discussing things that are already indicated on your application. You can elaborate if the topic illustrates something about your character and preparedness for the b-school experience, but do not be redundant.

Remember that the first impression you create is very important. When asked to say "something about yourself", most candidates just give out their schooling, college, marks and qualifications which is already there in the application. Why tell the interviewer something he/she already knows. Ideally, you would want to use this opportunity to show how you are different from the thousands of other applicants, which is not to blend into the crowd.

Always remember one thing that your approach to an interview should be as a conversation to be enjoyed, and not as a Q&A ordeal.

Hi,

While appearing for any interview the first thing to keep in mind is:-

Be confident but not over confident.

Other thing is answer the questions very calmly and with confidence. And if you don’t know any answer ....no worries tell them that sorry I don’t know about this but never try to bluff. It’s always better to accept it instead of trying to bluff. It creates negative impression. you can tell them ..."Sorry sir I don’t have much idea about this, it would be great if you help me or tell me about this".

And don’t talk too much.

and yes there is no FOQ to be memorize.......so don’t do that otherwise if they ask you something else you will get nervous and confused,. Just have a great knowledge of your subject and of the company in which you are giving the interview.

Regards,

The main factor for cracking the Personal interview is doing the home work like what will be the FAQs, like why do you want to join this B-school, why do you want to take up this specialization or what are your strengths, if you have thought out answers and when you are right on the button, it shows organization that you are prepared and  if you know some specifics about the program to which you are applying and can explain why those features fit well with your career goals, this will create an impression really well and you are that close to get selected.
