Job-seekers are often seen joining great companies and seen quiting from the company early. In a corporate world of great companies, often job has to be done under a boss who may be a sexist or racist. Or perhaps a boss who takes all the credit for himself. Maybe that boss thinks you have no life outside work and makes you stay late everyday. Or perhaps a boss who gives out too many tasks with impossible to meet deadlines (or constantly changing deadlines) or who is a pathological liar. Or perhaps the boss plays favorites. But most of them leave their job because of these bad bosses.

What to do when it is necessary to do a job as a career or to perform good in life and It is also possible that bad bossing is just part of the organization's work culture. So share your ideas to, How to deal with a bad boss?

Make sure everything in a job is done right

idea posted by Savita Dalvi Sales/BD Manager, IBM-Daksh

The first solution I would suggest, is an honest analysis of your actions and behavior. There are different ways to do a job, but if you're human, it's likely your bad boss has affected your performance, so try ignoring all these distractions and focus on your work to see if that changes anything. Find other sources of positive reinforcement for doing your job to the best of your abilities. Make sure you are doing everything right and is pleasing your boss.

There are good performers but failed to keep recording them as to their work done date-wise basis. This documentation in sequential manner will help them to meet the situation when a bad or good bosses apply pressure tactics. we have to keep quite without making any confrontation with such bosses and their performance recording date-wise will make the bosses to have a good feeling towards his team members. This is one best way to tackle the bad boss.Record speaks always.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Virag Shah

In my opinion there are no BAD or GOOD bosses. It all depends on the situation and varies from person to person. In my vast service I have never found a BAD boss. Yet times the bosses have not accepted me or my ideas. It does not mean the boss is bad.One has to  perform the job with right perspective and utmost care without expecting any benefit out of it. Once you are proved in your work, the bosses will always suppport you. The most important thing is one should gain thorough knowledge of the work area so that the work atmosphere can be enjoyed without giving any scope for tensions which leads to unhappy situations

Confront with evidence

idea posted by Anoop Dhopte Lead Developer, Avaya India
It’s easy for a boss to yell at you based on statements you yourself make. It’s harder if you confront the boss with detailed data, in particular data that has objective measures. So when your boss complains that you’re not answering calls promptly, share your data. In doing so, you’re telling the boss implicitly (or, if you’re brave enough) explicitly, “Boss, you can be angry all you want, but the data favors my position.”

Most of the boses today (specially in IT/Software) are not prepared for their role. Most of them started their career 12-14 yrs back when every Tom, Harry, Dick was offered a job in IT/Software. In due course of time, these organizational fats were promoted to managerial roles. For these kind of people, only thing that comes to mind is "tit-for-tat". Hit them hard, because I am sure given their ill nature and motives, they are bound to go wrong at several places and they deserved to be shown the door out.

Change organization

idea posted by domenico fama HR Business Parner, international Bank
Change unit in the same company or change company. The organization always know what is happening: right or wrong. If some "bad guy" still is at his/her place, we have to assume there is a specific reason why still in action. Don't make the bad job for others specifically appointed! Change for the best

Wear your Boss Shoes

idea posted by Santosh Sinha Freelance Journalist, Free Lancer

I have seen people saying"MY BOSS IS BIG HEADACHE". It may be true, he might be after you to get the job done or he may yell at you. Be honest and ask this question to yourself, "Are you full filling the Boss expectation from you?". Second, You assume yourself in his position and see whether you will also behave the same way?. Friends many a times its the chair and responsibility of the Boss that compels him to behave like that. So, never give up, try to accommodate his feeling, try to talk to him about his behavior when he is in lighter mood so that he may this about his behavior in future. Above all donot loose your prestige in accommodating him / her.

Wish you all Good Luck

no boss is bad

idea posted by Tony Dsouza Strategic accounts, Wipro Ltd

No boss is bad unless and until we anayse in a proper angle. some times we think that our boss is over ruling us but there is no point in getting anoyed with that, as he is been given authority to do that.

Morever boss will be quite experinced and more superior than us and thats why management has given him that seat. We cannot simply challenge his capabilities.

Hence my overall suggestion to deal with boss is to throw away our attitudes, listen to what Boss says, if you donot agree with him then revert back decently with your suggestions.

I support Virag for 'Positive attitude and Patience'. It is very true that employees leave managers and not company. Though we can understand that the boss is under pressure, the victims are often the subordinates working under him/her. So the first thing is be patient and complete your work on time. Once you are up to date in work the boss would not have anything to say about you, even if he says something bad don't pay attention to that. Sometimes the boss's comments might hurt you, but don't think too much about that just see that your job is done.

If we think it is bad then it is bad for you.In our day to day life we are differentiating our relationship with our friends.sometimes they are the best in other side we may think they are cheating you.If your BOSS is giving you opportunity then he/she is the best person in the world though he/she is a bad person for others. So believe in your work in your Knowledge no one will stop you to go ahead.

We cant define any bad or good boss .The same boss may be good for some and bad for some.Bad boss is a perception of few and when many perceive of a bad boss then the boss is very bad.If many perceive if a boss is good then he is a good boss.

Find a mentor with the company

idea posted by Nikhil Jain Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

If one loves the company but hates the boss, he can develop a mentoring relationship with a boss/supervisor in another part of the company. Mentoring is a fantastic strategy that he should consider even if he has a good boss because a mentor is someone who can help him in many ways, from offering advice to suggesting him for a promotion. And in coping with a bad boss, a mentor can be a good sounding board for him, and perhaps after he has documented all the offences, someone who has the pull and the power to do something about his bad boss.

be transparent

idea posted by RAMESH KANDADAI Principal Consultant, ARM Consultants

Do all the work assigned to you in a visible and transparent manner and maintain a neutral profile with the bad boss. Sooner or later the others in the organization will notice and steps will get taken,, sometimes. If enough of you are disgruntled with the boss, that is you do have strength in numbers, discuss it outside the office and approach either the boss's boss or the head of HR. however, BE WARNED, once you decide to lodge a complaint, you must be prepared for the consequences. The last option is to quit and move on. when enough attrition takes place, the organization will see the reality. but that doesnot help you as you have moved on.

Take it as one of the experience of professional life and move on.

idea posted by Neeraj Bhandari Tour Management Executive, Divine Travel Connextions

There is not any bad or good boses in the organisation / company, it just dpends how we do perform our work and in what type of environment we are doing work or perform our duties and handling the task given by our seniors. This is our one of the experience of professional life as to whom boss we are discuss about here was already been gone through this type experience and situation when he was young and did hardwork for being the boss. That is the same thing here today we do hardwork and listening too much instead of saying more will effect to our proffesional carrer in a good manner. This is pure and prooved proverb that "BOSS ALWAYS BE RIGHT", we have to except it just perform our duties what given by seniors and do much better that their expectations. If they are not listen us is not mean to  they are not listen us, boss just do their own work and after that you can share what you want.

As regards to the credit which all taken by boss is fine, ok, do not have any problem because where you are working is the name promote of him company not yours, the profit comes is directly tranfer to the company not to you, you just have to perform what you are doing and wait for the right time with great prspect because HARDWORK AND HONESTY IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS AND BE A GOOD LISTNER INSTEAD OF SAYING UNNESACcERY.
