Well this is my favorite..... The employee should try and learn about the preferences of their bosses. If the employee knows what his boss prefers, then he is likely to do a better job than his peers. For instance, does she prefer setting the documents to print preview before you email them to her. |

@Dipika- u mean to say .. we should give our life in boss hand bye giving preferences of our bosses ??... boss will shape our life & career... in other word if you know how to buttering then you can do a better job than peers.... I m not agree with you... we should do our job sincerely, honestly and by keeping our goal in mind then we can handle any boss either female or male.. not by giving her/his preferences... it's my opinion ..

It is not to hard to manage work with female boss..
Every employee in an organization (including the Boss) is working FOR the organization and to achieve the organization's goal. NOT FOR THE BOSS. Hence THE BOSS should also understand the shortcomings, if any of the sub ordinate, irrespective of the gender, and help him to accomplish and make him/her an asset to the organization.
The perception of BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT is out-dated. Every one in the profession should shed their EGO. Have an open mind. Dealing with any Gender Boss is NOT as difficult as it may seem to be. While dealing with the Boss the subordinate should be very clear in his mind and expression and straight-forward. At times, due to the ego statistics, either of them may feel HURT. But it should be taken in the right spirit. Ultimately all are employees of the same organisation having a common goal - to give their best to the organisation. Dear Suryanarayanan your view is not generally acceptable. Some times Boss may not be correct but since he is a boss to you, he would expect that his views is to be accepted. This may lead to bad effect in the development of organisation and will not pave the way for healthy decision.

Usually they are sincere as far as completing the task at hand is considered...so try to be sincere or fake it... :-). Also, they take holistic approach in dealing with their sub-ordinates. Now that you know, what kind of approach your boss is going to take to deal with you, you can fix it a bit such that you are favored... :-)

What is the use of this discussion. There will be a boss to an enterprise and it has to be either a female or a male. What important is teh performance of the company in the market scenario. So it is better for every sex to perform well. You don't work for the boss, instead you work for a cause or for a product. That is more important and all other things are useless and immaterial.

By the definition of boss he has to be commanding, authoritarian, demanding, he should know the "MC, BC", “f” words, attribute for Indian boss, women are seen as soft species. Men think they can dominate as they are physically little stronger and are more in count in the job market.
The word “Female” is derogatory, say woman or Lady. Ms Dipika please carry self esteem, Dipika is a feminine name, so what if you are not a “FEMALE” in real life. You are voicing your thoughts thru this name. It becomes hard to relate.
The question “So, how to handle with a female boss?” the boss handles this is what men are not used to. :)

The gender means a lot. On tackling issues, the male bosses will focus objectively. But female bosses will focus subjectively. As per psychology, female bosses approach things with more sensitive and sentimental mode, while others are not. The second man is a male, then the female boss can be easily misleadable on alternative decisions.This is common. There may be exceptionals in both ways.

Working with a female boss is slightly different. Their psychological approach is very different than male bosses who are insensitive, totally work-oriented and domineering with massive egos. Women bosses on the other hand are sensitive, expect male subordinates to share their work, cannot handle pressure that well as male bosses. Of course, on the other hand the are good team builders in a positive manner and there is less politicking than male bosses. But ultimately for the male subordinate, it is important that he understands what the boss and is able to deliver the job requirements.

you need to have a good insight into what it is that she is looking for in a subordinate. Women generally get into jobs to fulfill a need that usually goes beyond sustainably. Be a good listener and listen for all that she has left unsaid, you will surely get an insight to her needs ...then begins your task in assisting her in fulfilling them .As u go about this business u will find that you are becoming a major part of her work life and she will payback with helping u grow too.

Treat her with the same professionalism and respect as you would a male boss, for starters, and she may be more receptive to your ideas. Ask her what it is she would like you to change about your job performance and what you can improve on in her opinion. If you show that you respect her judgement and value her opinion, she will probably give you some good pointers, treat you better, and your workplace will be much more comfortable. |

Initially, there can/may be some loud thinking. But,when you settle down for work/business, it should not matter much with which gender you are dealing. Professionalism should come to the fore with reasonable reserved approach.

Prove to your female boss that you are trustworthy and reliable. Make yourself a go-to person for her. Create an alliance. Since females are challenged in the male dominated work-force, trusting is something that female bosses avoid, but can be re-instilled with the right employee.

I think Boss is not always right.It is funda to save our job & take Pramotion only. and it is not godd for Company & not good for yoursel.At perticulary time we can say yes boss but later we can discuss our ideas to Boss . if boss is really well wisher definetly she/he will liston to you. than there is no matter that boss in Male or Female.

Craving for PERFECTION leads to animosity. Predominantly our nation enjoyed "Male Chauvinism" and the women folks in the past have been subjugated! Though, its not our fault, but our forefathers thought that the womenhood is meant to be soft-spoken, kind hearted, emotionally driven, devoid of strength to handle pulls and pressures of this mundane world, and left them to rear children and handle house chores! In essence, they were treated as 'DEMI GOD' worshipped on auspicious days! Scenario is changing, but mindset is not! No two fingers are alike, and its too absurd to generalise!

We have been very close Female as Mother, sister & Wife. There understand Emotional too well. They more predictable then Male Boss.

The Female Boss is usually already aware of common perception of male subordinates in the workplace and is very sensitive to this issue. If she is very senior she will give the necessary allowances or leeway to the staff as she has been through it all before. It is the newly promoted or newly appointed female boss that needs careful handling. As most inputs before me have suggested - win her trust and confidence through your work ethic. Never try to patronize or try to socialize with your boss - there have been disastrous consequences that I have seen. For a short period of time, do not stand in groups engaged in MALE gang discussions or back-slapping or pushing around near her. If she extends a courtesy, that is only what it is - a courtesy, please do not mistake it for anything else. The rest is as a normal superior. |

Female bosses are very active and dedicated towards their job and they like the same from every one regardless of gender. Some female bosses are very interactive but on the other hand they are very attentive and strike directly for any wrong step. So, one should handle their female bosses carefully and try not to take undue advantage of their frankness.

Gender bias should be totally overlooked at the workplace. It is imparative that we give respect to the Chair and NOT the gender.
