'Change or Die' - Is the slogan for companies to survive in the rapidly changing market. Similar situation is in the companies now a days. Managers & Boss change every now & then but employees remain the same. It becomes very difficult to adjust with every new boss that comes in.....new principles, new policies, new attitude, strange ways to handling situations....etc.

Thus, from an employee perspective how to deal with the new boss?

Be Diplomatic

idea posted by Kriti Das HR Manager, ANZ Information Technology

Its better to be on the safer side rather than putting your hands in the Lion's mouth. You never know what kind of man your new boss is  ...so better be diplomatic & remain safe.

Analyze and then react

Thanks for the referral Ms Kirti

An interesting topic, taking into the account that change is often not appreciated by most. When a new boss comes in the first and foremost thing s/he does is try to bring in change in the organization. Old timers are usually upset with that. I think it is best to give the new person some time to make their ideas effective and then judge them. At times, the ideas they want to implement might be not acceptable to the working nature of the organization, but in long term, it might be beneficial to all.

analyse and then react proactively.

I think this will be of good approach with a new boss. We can not take a preconceived opinion or any presumption on the new boss and which will be of premature idea. Hence, analyze and then react will be the best option.

Thanks Dr.Ali Ahmad for the referral.

WORK WITH DEVOTION AND OBSERVE YOUR BOSS FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD TILL YOU CAN KNOW YOUR BOSS'S DESIRE.AFTER KNOWING THE DESIRE FULLFILL THE BOSS'S DESIRE AND WORK WITH DEVOTION . IT MAY BE THE ONLY WAY OUT.

ALTHOUGH WE HAVE SEEN PEOPLE WHO FULLFILL WHATEVER IS DESIRED BY BOSS AND ARE SURVIVING LIKE PARACITES.

Ask your boss to give his 30 minutes

idea posted by Krishna Software Testing, Ness Technology

Set up a meeting. Discuss with him about his expectation from you. Talk about your career aspiration. Provide him necessary information as he is new to the team. Ask him about whats there in his mind(some kind of roadmap) for the team with the collected information so far from his side. Extend your help or ensure your help/contribution to achieve his goal for the team and thus gel well.

Be Diplomatic

The news bosses tend to move very close with all the layers irrespective of the position that person holds. Assuming that he would be like that forever would lead to all sorts of atrocities. Many in the organisation develop laid-back attitude thinking that the boss is very close to them and would forgive them for any blunders committed! This kind of thinking is a mirage! Its therefore necessary to maintain a cordial but diplomatic relationship with the boss in order to sustain and endure one's position in any organisation.
