I think above mentioned keywords already speak a lot about themselves first of all complete knowledge about your duty should be there in oneself backed by self confidence with confidence in sub-ordinates which comes when one performs it in real life along there also has to be positive attitude to do a duty...

Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose and a few other names who, we know, have contributed to freedom fighting. But they are not the only names who contributed as freedom fighters. There have been lacs and lacs, even crores, of people who participated in the business of freedom fighting and we donot know their names. So the persons, whose name we know, were "MEANINGFUL SPECIFICS" and called leaders in the business of freedom fighting and the others, whose names we donot know, werte"WANDERING GENERALITY" and called the un-named freedom fighters. Both have contributed to the business of freedom fighting but differently. SO THE LEADERS DO NOT DO DIFFERENT THINGS BUT THEY DO THE THINGS DIFFERENTLY.The leaders perform with full dedication, sincerity and commitment towards their job (business) like a mother's attitude towards her infant. Leaders can be termed as SUCCESSFUL PERSONS. The successful persons donot recognise any limitation which may come in their way to success and unsuccessful persons have no way to defy the limitations in their business. Further, the leadwers develop the habits responsible for success, irrespective of the fact whether they like them or dislike them. To be a leader, we shall have to develop habits which are necessary for success without having regards to our liking or disliking. If we develop our thoe habit which we like, we shall remain there where we are with our those habits (likings) but to be successful we shall have to develop those habits which we donot like, so far. OUR HABITS, IN SALES, MAKE US SUCCESSFUL [SALES LEADERS]OR UNSUCCESSFUL [SALES PERSONS]. SO DEVELOP SUCCESSFUL-HABITS YOU WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL [SALES LEADER].

Motivation

Sales Leaders are different from sales people.sales leaders may not be good sales persons and vice versa.competencies required for a leader is different from actual person on the street.to develop sales people to good leaders they need to be highly motivated and given opportunity to grow and take responsibility along with developing on additional competencies required to be a leader.not all good sales people are good sales leaders.this calls for different styles and personalties within a person.

Proper training

I think proper training would help the sales people to successful. Training the skills of successful leadership and coaching along with their practical experience as an sales man would develop him as a successful sales leader. Sales leaders have extra roles to play apart from the role of a sales person. So from proper training he can learn how to play that extra role.

Sales persons can be developed into sales leaders only through the skills of product understanding, consumer need analysis and placing the product in the required segment of consumers. Any sales person who can master these can be a very strong candidate for the nomenclature of Sales Leader. Sales leader is only a mastered version of sales person.

Promote the creativity in them and keep training them to prepare for the mock situations. guide them to present their idea crisply but with punch maintaining specificity and focussed on the issue.While maintaining a positive attitude they also should be able to deal with negativism in the team

Aptitude to understand consumer's need and attitude to address it

Sales so far has been misunderstood as forcing the product or services to the consumers anyhow, but that is not the case at all. A sales person has to indetify the consumer's need, be it actual or latent and address it with full commitment. A latent need means that consumer may not be ready for it at that point of time, but once he or she buys it, then becomes the user for the lifetime. I was not using Bodywash at all. Once a CSA at shopping mall sold a Silver Black Bodywash to me 3 years back and after that I have not used soap after that.

So the old cliche, aptitude to understand the consumer's need and attitude to address it with full commitment will take a sales person to the altitude of sales leader.

All Sales People are not leaders only some people become leaders because they know how to motivate the people and some qualities like encourage , planning , guidelines and freedom. when any sales person take a commitment towards his job he became a leader.

Common sense is must but leadership is entirely different trait.I doubt if it can be developed,it comes from within.Most become leader by authority by driving others but not by by coexisting and logic in sales.

Commonsense is the most important thing

In my opinion the first and the most important thing that a sales person should develop is commonsense. Only a sales person with common sense on how to deal with customers can move to a higher level.

I don't think such things exist. But we have many training institutes and consultancies which help you in knowing yourself better....
No it is not... train yourself as per the requirement in the industry... then you will not find it difficult.....
