Keeping the present economic scenario in mind, companies in every sector are once again open to recruiting candidates.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, fraudsters have created a sudden burst in the number of fake job offers. Unemployed youngsters who are in dire need of work have become extremely vulnerable to such fraudulent mails. Several organisations have fallen prey to daring attempts by swindlers who cheat the youth.

Perpetrators generally misrepresent themselves as acting on behalf of companies to offer fictitious employment opportunities. Although the affected companies are trying to control the situation through various measures, it is very difficult to detect and intervene in every such case.

So, how to distinguish b/w a fake & real job.....

Security Measures....

idea posted by Nikhil Jain Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

Fake job offers are a worrying occurrence. With major changes in the current economic environment, there are primarily three reasons contributing to the rise of such offers.

First, the slowdown prevented many young graduates from bagging job offers.

Second, a lot of people also lost jobs during this period of economic volatility.

And third, companies in all sectors which were earlier extremely conservative in their recruitment, have now announced their hiring plans which are eagerly awaited and anticipated.

Thus, job seekers should keep this in mind & adopt safety measures while seeking for a job

1. They shouldn't believe on every calls they receive for jobs.

2. Proper enquiry should be done before taking the next step.

3. Documents & Money shouldn't be submitted blindly.

Desperation is the most fatal state of mind that can ever occur to a person in his career .It is when a person is desperate that the mind seem to become disoriented and is unable to think rationally and most of the errors of judgement are a fallout of this period and people tend to try and cling to whatever straw that comes their way.Hope and prayer precedes sound and informative judgement. If only you are not in an agitated state of mind will you be able to exercise proper due diligence and this state is only achieved when you are reasonably successful in your current undertaking.

Be cautious . . dont jump .. look for the features :-

--- these are not from the official website of the Co. - some a HR Manager is to be contacted

--- these are written in most common style

--- you have never applied for the post - vacancancies exists for so many posts

--- extra ordinary salary and parks offered

--- may ask for processing and Visa charges, also for verification of papers

A good debate Nikhil, Most of the cases job offers are coming through e mail. It is to check whether it is from company id or yahoo or hotmail etc. One more suggestion is that if we will broese the company name in search engines we can get the history of company including whether it blacklisted. I had done this when i got an offer from UK.

Web sites and HR

idea posted by rasik upadhye dyputy manager, idbi fortis

Before applying to any openings one should consider checking with the web site of the company and be proactive in asking if there are any jobs available with them, this should be also checked with the recruiter. Also ask for the procedure of the interview and submission of documents, avoid submitting to the recruiter instead submit to the company HR only. Ask the location of the interview as generally it must be in campus this validates the recruiter.
