No mantra this. But the reason for an individual to contribute creatively will only come through the communication from the top!! Leaders need to talk and instill confidence in their juniors and encouraging them to come out with thoughts and ideas for tasks that would eventually have an impact on the processes and systems. These tasks need to be visible in terms of being noticed by the organisation as a whole. Any such input from the concerned individuals should be applauded generously (as per norms of HR) and the individual needs to be at the centre of the entire event!! Such involvements and gratifications would lead to more participation from individuals progressively and working creatively!! Thanks for the referral :) |

A small pat, generous appreciation if possible help in the direction can lead to great results. Lip sympathy can be temporary. Spening little time by helping the creative cult by giving guidance and little help can really make the person work with more zeal, vigour and passion.
Dear Arikrishnan,
Whence communications open and response is appreciated it is no more a one way street and in any case a two way communication is forever better as this is different fro listening to news on radio.... hope you agree.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Makrand Bhave and Mr.Janaki Ram.

I have similar opinion in line with Mr.Makrand ji, but like to put it as under:

The authority should flow from top to bottom and hence there should be a proper communication from top to down the line.

How to encourage individuals to think and work creatively INVOLVES the following for the better growth of any organization.

a] The subject matter - what to think

b] The correct way to understand and evaluate the subject matter - how to think.

Hence, encouraging individuals to think and work creatively involves how to think effectively about the subject matter to be executed or how to properly understand & evaluate it, and this ability leads to creative thinking.

Creativity is an ability to produce original, inventive, and valuable work, ideas, or concepts and innovation is the process of converting these ideas into products and services.

Given the climate of global competitiveness, organizational practices that supports encouraging & creative thinking and new ideas of its employees are more important than ever. and that requires the quality of organization's innovative process & the ability to build effective communication systems.

The above role can be effectively applied and practiced by a good leader who will be of unbiased, respecting, encouraging, enthusing, caring for people, not exploiting or dictating. Ultimately, a good leader is one who is capable of winning the hearts of his subordinates, his seniors & juniors in order to get the things done with a view to achieve the common goal of the organization.

According to me we need to trust someone who come up with creative thinking. For example you would have delegated some work to your subordinate, if he give some interesting ides you should accept that by trusting him. This will give him some motivation and he will do better the next time too. |

Right Janki, trust plays the most important role in motivating subordinates and extracting the best out of them. Once a proper relationship of trust is established between the leader and his team members, everybody will take it upon himself to come up with the best ideas, and eventually, the organisation will benefit. Trust will also negate the adverse effects of other factors like lack of appraisal, delayed promotions etc.

Creativity demands freedom, one can have innovative ideas but one can't be creative in implementation as far as he/she has to work within drafted guidelines. So, I feel more authority & hence freedom should be given to people whom can the organization expects to deliver something substantiate in stipulated time frames . At the same time they should be made more responsible & accountable for the task they are considered to deliver. Thanks Makarand for your referral,,,,I fully endorse your views but I have to be creative here as you have told, I had to ideate :)). |

I will talk from my > 30 years experience ... I partly agree with Makrand that communication and support from top leadership is very important for developing creative thinking culture ! (I had no support from top leadership as well as colleagues in spite of my buzzing creative ideas/efforts, bcoz I felt they didn't understand or were focused on immediate profits too much with the result that they always preferred proven experience and proven technology by copying from here and there) Encouraging and sustaining creative thinking requires developing a creative/innovative culture where, along with whatever Makrand said, there is all out support and incentive for generating creative ideas supported by plans to test and implement them ... Many times I found there was nobody to help and support in testing my ideas ... Thanks for the referral Makrand, hope it helps in promoting Creative Thinking culture ... The creativity is a generic term.He or she must be encouraged to refer imortant books on creativity.Once he starts sharing ,his efforts should be lauded. He must remember Joseph Chilton Pearce's quote:"To live a creative life ,he must lose his or her fear of being wrong".

The creative work always draws applaud. The created work however, should appeal to the people around. The appeal creates fans and mails.Fans and mails carry forward his or her works. There he or she nreaches a critical stage where his work is under scrutiny. The scrutiny refines his or her works. His work attains threshhold value and is established as catalyst. The creativity waits for none and continues searching new horizon.

It is not enough to do one or the other. To realise the full potential of an individual one has to combine all the three. Because just delegating or encouragin or rewarding would not get the best out of him/her. One needs to recognise talent and then do everything to develop the talent by following these three paths. |

Freedom of Expression isthe FIRST STEP towards encouraging Individuals to Think & Work Creatively... SECOND STEP would be... Then Navigate them in the correct Direction. In this manner, they will FEEL better & You will get the desired results. Individuals these days are very touchy & if they feel, they are CONFINED & not allowed to Express their thoughts or feelings, they will go IN A SHELL. This will serve no purpose. Happy Debating Friends ! |

Hello, Inform them what company requires and give enough time to think and come to a decession. If the result is your satisfaction encourage and appreciate them. In case it is not up up to your expectation not to discourage them. Instead you can boost them to do better next time. This will help them to gain confidence and to give better result next time. Knowledge is an essential part to bring in 'creativity'. Mere 'copy-paste' may not suceed for long. Ask the workers to turn to Knowledge workers and encourage them in all possible way in this direction. |

What I feel is leaders needs to study the down level persons strong and weakness points. Based on the working notes leaders has to encourage the juniors where ever they are strong with respect to that they need to delegate the work to get good results and coming to weakness, leader has to give inputs to over come the weakness area and accordingly they need to guide the junior with regard to negative points thorough this we can get the good results from juniors. |

This is very interesting,Trusting them automatically motivates him towards the job or assined work, and this in turn grows both individual as well as organisation.and communicating and making him understand the requirement shall only narrow concepts in nature.

Promote a culture of making people feel 'no idea is a bad idea' and encourage them more and more to think out of the box and to contribute. |

if both are shown in right measures, then automatically inspires certain person to do something new/innovative. if he thinks whatever good he does is getting him some sort of recognition, then nothing extra is required to motivate that person to do things differently.

INDIA is very rich country if the above paragraph is true. |
I do not support the Ad. Today many sedans and foreign car makers are coming to India, with great technology and luxury. AFAIK, many people are following Car and bike shows in many channels, to know about the features and other technical aspects. ... |
