If you are a manufacturing company then your suppliers & distributors are the blood of your company &  without them you will not survive. Its always better to understyand the needs of your suppliers & distributors so that its always a win-win situation.

So, how to enhance the links??

Always have a Plan B. Develop multiple supply sources of the same product, if one fails to deliver..the other will come to our rescue. Take care of the cash flows simultaneously

In my opinion you need to provide financial assistance if required by your suppliers & distributors. This will help them to grow & survive in difficult times which inturn will boost your productivity....

I do agree to give financial assistance to your suppliers/distributors.Most of the suppliers are only mediators liasoning(brokers like) between u and distributor. But for giving financial assistance choose a reliable and reputed suppliers in the market. Otherwise if more advances are given they will trouble us. Better to keep a watch in ratio of your advances and supplies.

For any type of company, it should balance the production and sale. As per the statistical figures the product should reach the distributor (Primary Sale) in time to catch the demand. Simultaneously, the field staff should be in the market place to make arrangement to reach the customer as desired. Feeding the distributor should not be the target. Reaching the product to the ultimate consumer must be done. Then only the distributor enhance his income by rotating the stocks by frequent filling his warehouse with fresh products. He feels happy to increase his investment with the company. This depends up on the field staff's dedication towards market. The rider of the market(manager) should estimate things properly like a foreteller of the market.

Have multiple Vendors / Suppliers who can cater to requirements on JIT whenever required to strengthen the link.. Alternate Plan is always the best on Stand-by at the time of Urgency..
