Regular exercise helps. Early morning, late afternoon or early evening exercise doesn't interfere with sleep. However, refrain from exercise four hours prior to sleep. Snacks before bedtime should be light and fluid intake limited. |

Yes. No caffeine, etc., and workouts atlease 4 hours before sleep.
Just put any meditation music and meditate to sleep. You can meditate in your sleeping posture too or any pose that you feel comfirtable in (sukh-asana). Meditate to forgive those people who disturbed you in the day/week and all towards whom you have a resentment.
Keep your cellphone in silent mode or better to keep it in another room.
Eat at least 1.5 to 2 hours before sleep. Eating curd (Dahi) along with your dinner helps in getting good sleep. You can take some hot milk before going to bed. Also, a HOT water bath helps.

Only the stress would be the thing which will make you tired and so work hard when you are awake and when you go to bed just forget all the mental stress and sleep like a small child who has no responsibility.
Only then the other day you will be able to work hard while you are awake
In short……..do the thing at the right for that one
While sleeping just sleep and while working just work

Thats so simple, isnt it??Sleep while you sleep...work while you work...whether you are fit or not, alcoholic or not...doesnt really matter...sleep like as if theres no tomorrow...
do your best when you are doing your job,complete your task on or ahead of schedule.then always keep open your six senses.enjoy,celebrate the success.sound sleep will come ,wheather its a DAY or NIGHT

A GOOD BATH HELPS UNWIND AND RELAX .It would be ideal if one can listen to some soft music,have some milk before heading off to bed.Stress and worries of the day should be forgotten and bedroom is the best place for foreplay and lovemaking with your partner.All these would ensure a sound sleep.

Have a hot water bath in the night before going to sleep. It helps in sleeping. Likewise, have a cold water bath in the morning to keep you fresh and awake.
A bath or simply wash your hands, legs & face to be fresh will help a lot for sound sleep.

After going to bed, if you are married, do sex with your partner(and take bath after sex) or atleast do sex play for 15-20 minutes with each other and than sleep. You will get very sound sleep. In modern theory, it is also indicated that sleeping naked also cause for sound sleep. Please try, if you are sleeping in your room alone and can lock it before getting naked.

If you are having many issues in work or personal life then u need to address those issues first then u can think of sound sleep.

Two of the main reasons for sleepless nights could be - eating a heavy meal and then hitting the bed at once and watching gory things on television. while less need to be said about eating heavily and then going to bed immediately, experts say one should watch pleasant things on TV before going to bed. Watch a cartoon or hear some songs before u hit the bed because that way u carry pleasant thoughts with u and your sub conscious mind is not disturbed. Experts also say that one need to give a gap of at least 2-3 hrs between your last meal and snooze time. If you dont have that liberty, then have something light like salads etc. before you hit the bed.

Dear Jaygopal, Most of the things you've written are correct except the last item. Salad is not easily digestible and any food difficult to digest should not be taken at dinner.Please tell me honestly, if you take dinner 2-3 hours before sleep, will you take salad again before hitting the bed?

My sleep is good without any break. I have applied the following principles on my own research:
1. Waking in the morning naturally not by alarms.
2. Exercising 30-45 minutes every day in the morning.
3. Avoiding eating, moving and working in hurry.
4. Avoiding anger and arguments with people.
5. Avoiding over-eating.
6. Avoiding concentrating on a particular work for long time
7. Watching TV or reading books before sleep.
8. Adopting positive state of mind and readiness to face failures, criticism and discouragement as a part of life.

Keep your conscience clear and do no harm to any one. Upright attitude with an adjusting nature would keep your conscience clear. If we fail to do that, your mind will overtake you forcing you to stray into every path, without realising the consequences, would end up in sleepless nights perennially!
