Before delivering to the consumer, products are tested thoroughly to ensure safety. Even with the most ardent testing a product malfunction can happen and therefore making a product recall necessary. Handling a product recall correctly can make or break a company's already damaged reputation.

Be truthful about the bad quality which has led to the recall, act quick and effectively as there is no point in recalling a product months after it has become the hot topic, reward the loyalty of the consumer who bought the initial bad product by giving some freebie or discount on purchase of another product.

I agree that quality checks are basic need for all product . It is require to check during process by process control check against STD process norms by  cross functional or Qc team of MFG company.Before final release in all aspect QC varification must.

Stop Sale Immediately

Once the recall notice has been received, retailers should stop sale of the recalled product at once. The recalled inventory should be removed from the shelves and isolated from the other merchandise. The recall notice will have instructions on how to return the products or dispose of them so they are not released for sale.
