When we speak about working women let us not focus just on the professional lady.. There are women working in fields, factories - the labour class. They too are work hard, most of them are in abusive relationships and financially bad conditions. They work more than what they should.. The factory workers in karnataka have to work for 10hrs a day!! Is there anyway we can help them?? What should we do to help them.

Increase in wages not time

idea posted by Swapna Das Assistant Professor, Govt. college

They had asked for increase in wages and what they got as a bonus was extra work.. Is it fair?? But no one raised voice because in this world where we need extra income even we do decent jobs than these ladies are froma total different class.. Government should think about their welfare.

Women labourers are the most exploited lot. As Swapna has mentioned - they endure abusive relationships: most spouses are quite content to sit at home or engage in very small work waiting for the wife to bring the money home. Then, without a care for the state of the home, food or the children's education, blow away the sum on hooch and some card games. If the wife refuses to part with the money, she is beaten up and loans taken from outsiders which this woman has to pay off!!! Then the workplace: mostly ill- ventilated, poorly lit and meagre rates. My view is that to help them, rehabilitate the wastrel husband, provide for the children's education and through government organizations or some NGOs try to bring about a change in their working/salary conditions. We are actually engaged in this for the women labourers in the construction sites near our home.

Safety , Security and Good Treatment.....

idea posted by Jitender Kumar MBA/PGDM student, Kurukshetra University PG Regional College
Safety , Security and Good Treatment are the important factors which must be considered at work place. Women exploitation directly or indirectly is very common at work place but it is very much present at small scale factory's. Women labours working in factory's and on construction sites are very prone to exploitation. So we must ensure there safety , security and good treatment to them at work place............

Can We think We can be responsible for the growing of anything. trees grow because that is their nature. Farmer Don't grow the tree only give platform for growing the crops. So Just Treat them Equal Human. Treat Them as Men. Give Platform that is either education, free to think and work. They will automatically Grow.

I do agree with Nitin,Bcoz men and women do equal work for same time.so women should be treat as men and hence women exploitation should also be low and also there should be some guidance programs by govt for illeterate womens on how to become bold and fight with difficulties of the world.

Provide SAFETY for their earnings

idea posted by G A Narayan VP - Marketing, KE Housing P. Ltd.

Provide security for their salary. In most of the cases, their husbands beat them and take away their hard earned money and drink/gamble it away. So a scheme to provide for their security in terms of safe keeping of their money is to be formulated by the government.

Some sort of social welfare scheme or forced deposit scheme must be formulated where a part of the earnings are kept safely and can be used in times of crisis. Also, their children's school fee and the family's medical expenses have can be taken care of by this deposit scheme.

I agree with Mr. Narayan's idea about earnings security.

However , I would like to disagree with his suggestion that the woman's earnings should be used to take care of their children's school fees and family's medical expenses.

The woman's earnings should be solely for the woman to spend as she wishes. In many cases , the husbands abuse their wives , both physically and mentally / emotionally. In quite a few cases , the woman , since she is not economically independent , is forced to put up with this torture , until it is ended by her suicide or by her husband's death or by her being thrown out of the home by her husband / in-laws.

For all such contingencies , the woman's earnings should be solely in her keeping , either to be spent as she wishes , or for her support in later life , when she can no longer work.

Thanks,Swapna Das for referral. It is very pleasing,Madam to note that you have raised very pertinent issue. These dis organised women are at disadvantage for many reasons, low wages, insecurity, children education, health care, misbehavior, lack in sanitation, camps.I may name dozen more.I am of the firm opinion that they should be issued rank cards with period of their engagement with different contractors if possible digital one with compete addresses and their deduction towards such funds which may take care them post disability,sickness,re-employment,etc.

You can't do much about the women labours! You can enliven their hope if you tend to educate their children so that they don't pick up the same task what their mothers do! Treat them with respect, and if possible, help them get their Voters ID card, Ration Card, BPL card, etc. so that they can avail some of the subsidies the Government offer them!
