This question is not about any individual or just any city. It is about our natin and the comparison here is global. There are many people in the country who have high standard of living. But looking at the nation as a whole do we have a high or say average standard of living? No we don't!!
More than 50% children in our nation are suffering from malnutrition. With such a high population people and high property rates there are families who adjust themselves in matchstick size houses. So what should be the first step to improve the standard of living in our nation?

Target the over all economic growth

idea posted by Kavitha Shankar Sr/Principal Coresspondent, ABC

The kind of life an individual leads is in the end related to over all economic growth of the nation. If the government tries to improve that then perhaps we will be able to lead a better life and a higher standard of living will follow.

Yes Kavitha I agree with your point of view.

More improvement in education

idea posted by Atul Vhale Social Media Strategist , Rikhav Infotech
I don't think just targeting economic growth would lead standard living. Here good point "There are many people in the country who have high standard of living but looking at nation it doesn't". I think still there no improvement in education. Except big cities there is still traditional and out dated education. Targeting economic growth would be one of option.

ERADICATE politicians

idea posted by Akhilesh S Joshi India Coordinator
Eradication of politicians from the administrative portfolios will certainly improve the living standards in our country. At present learned and highly qualified IAS/ IPS/ ICS/ MBA's are working as per the directives of these politicians. These brains are not free to work and are working under pressure. I feel pity on these brains. Politicians never wish to bring in better living standards and good education in our country coz they know that the educated mass is very cautious in electing a criminal to lead them whereas uneducated/ illiterate mass is easy to be over powered either with the influence of currency or liquor. The corrupt politicians are the serious most hurdle in our country to improve living standard, education and the country to head as super power. All the TOP IDEAS associated with this argument are emerging under a single root cause and solution to all is ERADICATE THE POLITICIANS

Most of the problems as per Mr Jaygopal Raghavan, due to political system. We must change the law. We will gather and make the law work.At least one politician get the highest punishment for being corrupt, then the scene may change. Or the public must realise and revolt, then only the politicians may change. Now it is internet era. If the plan approved, then within 24 hours the procedural steps to implement the plan or project should be published. Or the Official to be transferred. The administrative reforms should not leave any;body who is in between the public service.

I support this because it is more necessary for our nation that each individual respected citizen must improvise by themselves on personal behalf then it will be like each drop counts and as always rather than blaming about the darkness it is always better to light a lamp.

Everybody should take part in social activity in their living area.

& should contribute for social cause like tree plantation, plastic garbage

cleaning, cleaning of rivers, reform for feeding beggars & lonely living old age

people, a literacy drive for all age illiterate people.

So it automatically enhance the social health of our country & leads towards

growth.

PROPER STRATEGIC PLAN IN DEVELOPMENT BY INDIA

idea posted by NATTERAJA R. ARIKRISHNAN GM-Projects, Bentec Electricals & Electronics Pvt. Ltd

How to improve the standard of living in India is the question. The improved standard of living is attained when the per-ca-pita income increases that emerges from the earnings or income of individual is more. The individuals earnings may be from employment, business, agriculture, or any other professions people are engaged. In any professions, there are ups & downs which can not be ruled out and they are part of it. In India we lack the proper distribution of economy and the it is not reaching to the lower & middle level of the pyramid. As a result the rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer. Our govt development policies are utilized only by the upper class or rich peoples.Further our govt is not able to achieve the proper execution in time within the stipulated period, effective utilization of resources, and the return on the investment which is deployed through borrowings that costs the interest rates. Our country is facing the deficit trades & budgets due to the high rate of inflation. Our politicians & bureaucrats have been punctuating all developmental growth through all types of scams & scandals.Above all there is no infrastructural development in rural areas, no importance is being given to the agricultural sectors, and poor literacy standard in rural areas to improve their standard of living and also under paid employees in certain areas of our society. The big industrial houses entering the market with their financial muscle power and taking away the shares of tiny and small sector industries. The episode will be more lengthy... and there will not be any end to this.. The ball is in the court of our government to set right things, but they are also doing the vote bank politics and cheating the public.

Thanks for the referral Ms.Kavitha Shankar.

This like after paying taxex asking the citizen to do the governments job. The contingencies cannot be passed on to citizen. They have the power over printing currecny and monopoly power on violence. what they should do with the resources vested with them cannot be substituted with naive citizens efforts. Thanks.

Overhaul the political and legal system

idea posted by Jaygopal Raghavan Marketing Manager, Landmark Group
Most of the problems in our country emanate from politicians and their cohorts. Once this is overhauled, things will automatically improve. The other is the judicial or legal system which is so far outdated that people dont have any faith in it anymore. Once these two sectors are set right, things will improve to a great extent. But this is wishful thinking at its best !

ON CONCENTRATING MORE CREATING NEW ENTREPRENEURS WE WILL IMPROVE THE GDP LEVEL AND ALSO CREATE MORE JOBS TO OUR PEOPLE. THE SECOND THING IS BY GIVING IMPORTANCE TO INNOVATIVE IDEAS LIKE, HOW TO ALTER A DIESEL ENGINE BY BATTERY MOTORS MORE EFFECTIVELY OR BY HOW TO ALTER A BATTERY BY SOME NEW TOOLS ETC.

60% of indian population r below poverty line(BPL)& this is a great hidden market, only if we increase their purchasing capacity and this is possible by increasing the employment level, through industrial , infractural development ,govt. spending, govt. tax & liberal economy policy through FDI & others, with a stringent & honest govt machinery.

Rationality

idea posted by Mathew Cherian Research Associate/Analyst, Western Michigan University
The first step towards improving collective standard of living is to 'create and environment where each individual citizen can make rational decisions and choices', where the outcomes of his decisions are 'nearly foreseeble' and not something he need to 'compulsively' work out 'somhow'. Our processes and systems used for running the nations per se is 'uncany' meaning it is mysterious and surprising for citizen on a day to day basis of existence. Once the citizen can be provided rational environment where his actions clearly can lead to his desired outcome then his standard of living will improve otherwise we will have a mad house where everyone runnign helter skelter without reaching any worthwhile targets.

Abolish all types of Welfare systems

idea posted by Ravi Gautam Material Mgmt Executive/Manager, Reliance Energy
Welfare systems have done no good to our country, according to WHO report 40% of the rationed kerosene is stolen & sold into Black Market. Welfare systems is helping the rich and corrupt and not the poor. If all the essential commodities will be provided into the open market their prices will automatically fall; thus everybody will be benefited

Blame culture should stop and an awareness, among the public need to be raised so that whatever fund is alloted, it be used fruitfully. Explore all possibilities to bring in more money , means to generate money through production, use of skills, educations, extending services to other countries and companies etc. Standard of living is based on buying power and the living power. For that all we need is money. With the existing system, try to find out all possibility to eke out the money for constructive purposes.

Govt can also plan , in phase-wise to develop areas. For that we we need to have look ahead leaders with strong commitment.

For the standard of living to go up each citizen need be well endowed which need be the political agenda. For this rational choices of individual need be affirmed in daily processes, which itslef is a big subject to discuss. Theire need be purchasing power built into the currency they employ and so on and so forth. This will take time as the economy pick up momentum from one year to the next, and we learn to live with the new processes that were denied for the last secluded 50 years of independence, the standard of living will rise.

Inequity in every walk of life should be eliminated. Evolve a strategy to involve everyone to share national pride. In India, we have only 30% people contributing for the welfare of the 100% population. Unless and until we raise the living standards of the left out masses, globalisation, liberalisation, GDP, etc. are the topics meant for economists for discussions in air-conditioned board rooms and conference rooms!
