Competition is good but when you go overboard with anything it stops working. If you lose touch with reality and turn humans into machines, your system is going to crash. Competition without humane conditions is crass commercialisation. That's why so many companies are shutting down. You can't expect humans to compete like machines! |

No, with ugly competition you are bringing out the worst in people. Corporations should not stop good business practices and good human nature in the face of competition. You are turning men into beasts, which is not fair to humanity.
But don't you think if there is not enough competition then there will be less productivity, i understand your comment here, it should be more humane interms of the load of work given, but by withering out that competitive mode, will not employee and the organization loose that edge...so how to make sure or to draw a line where it is too much for a employee to handle???

According to me defining the performance metrics of an employee, which is also called goals or tasks and measures is very important. The challenge lies in finding the parameters for many tasks. This can be done through discussions among the top administrators to decide what parameters or guidelines should be set at all levels for employees. Once the guidelines are set, goal setting exercise engaging all employees should be conducted to ensure mutual consent of employees with their managers to set and define the performance metrics. this helps in defining the role as such and increases the overall performance altogether

Yes Mr Dayanand,
In my view defining certain goals and to see his performance on aspecified period and reviewing is a best idea. but this can be efficiently performed when the communication level/media is also in that level or stage, otherwise it will be a burden to the concerned section/dept.
So implimenting the same is also a very important issue here. Because understanding the issue, efficient ferformance and implimenting and reviewing in a perfect way are differant things.

The issue is very very important to dealwith. Every company will have a policy that it will encourage and reward the performance, but, in reality, it won't happen at all or otherwise, the work may never get rewarded. It is a very serious issue to address. The management must make it clear that, at any cost and under any circumstances, the performance will get recognized and rewarded accordingly. Again, the people with the obligation to find-out the performance and report to the management must be trained well focusing on recognition of talent and performance. Its actually a big issue. Strategically, some companies may not recognize the work and they will reward the people who don't work. Some may recognize the talent and encourage the performance at any cost. I think, the book written by Lee Iaococca and his management style addresses this issue straightaway. Thanks to you all for giving me an opportunity to think about the issue once again.

Google has shown that sky is limit for those who strive for success. I read about the success story of Google and agreed on- this is only your human factor which makes an Organization distinct from others. Few people are inborn with that burning desire to be successed with minimum level of comfort provided to them to achieve their bottom line goal. In that very situation how does it matter for them- how funky the building that you are operating from, how about perks and other benefits that Company will be giving you etc. likewise the list is very long. However the others, if positive environment is giving they can turn out to be the one as with inborn. But for this transition you need mentor who belong to first category not the second one. I have experience this in my professional career. This really works. |

yes totally agree with your comment, that he himself should strive for more in his life, than organization trying to incorporate those things. There is great difference between a NEED and a WANT, a need is a thing when which is given to him he'll be satisfied with it, but a WANT is something unquenchable one needs it all the time, this should be the attitude towards his work or life....

How convenient it is to blame the government.. There are flaws in government and then there were always flaws there.. now we can see them clearly because many people are coming up and giving voice to the wrong practices.. |
It is a wonderful concept but we need a right plan to follow it. Just an idea wont help. |
Bad news really bad news . 1) We should produce our own arms . 2) More arms means more fight. 3) Only arms would not ensure security. |
