As an advertiser – you need to be very careful about who you are advertising to, and which media to use.

Many people, including some experienced marketers, make lazy decisions about advertising. They choose what comes first to mind; or from the media rep that pesters them the most; or what they have done before; or the option that gives them the best incentive or reward.

And sometimes people jump straight to ‘how’ their ad will look. That is, they design the ad before knowing what they will be doing with it. Design can be fun. But it can also be premature.

So, how to make ads which are more personally relevant??

Make sure your commercial's script is relevant. Use short sentences that grab your potential customer's attention.

You've got a very limited time frame to capture your audience and you need to get your message across quickly. Don't get wrapped up in long sentences. Keep them short and punchy. Your audio should also tell the customer what you're advertising even if the customer is in another room and can't see the TV when your commercial airs.

I agree with neena on this. One should very carefully decide the mode of advertisement in addition the add is short hit the would be customers. I can recollect one advertisement which says "Fill it shut it and forget it" from Hero Honda I think it hit the bulls eye.

Research and study your TA

idea posted by Jaygopal Raghavan Marketing Manager, Landmark Group

First identify your target audience and then research them to find out their likes and dislikes, the best medium to reach them and the cost at which they would receive it. Ones you have answers to these, then it is easy to make an ad that is not only relevant personally but also makes some sense.

There is nothing wrong in pre designing and ad but one should tune it to your requirement and ensure the medium chosen leads to their TA. Research also may lead to certain changes in the product offering if so desired.

It’s quite true about the saying – There’s no second chance at making a good first impression. Advertisement, regardless online or offline, if they don’t catch your attention within seconds they are considered failed. So Advertising Research has to be done to improve the efficiency of the advertising. It can entail a variety of research approaches, including psychological, sociological, economic, and other perspectives.

Agencies and big corporations do not believe in ‘cool factors’ in advertisement anymore. Instead, to really stand out of the crowd, the idea has to be really out of the box, something that makes you laugh, talks about it or at least make you look twice and think twice. And also script plays the main role, as told by Meenaji. And Research can be used as a base for Script.

C's of Advertisements - Consumer, Creative, Clever.

I agree with Jayagopal! Identifying the core group who will willingly pay to buy your product is important. The study of this group would yield the habits and the spend that the group does and you can then determine the route that your communication should ideally use! research is the basis of the way forward and the route of communication.

Social Responsibility

idea posted by jairaj shyam prasad Production Manager, BOSCH Ltd

an advertiser should have social responsibility in his message.eventhough ad world is very much commercial, presentation and message should not disturb harmony in society and should not lead to any confusions/conflicts.there is a vague belief that if any ad is very conflicting then that ad will create certain curiosity in the minds of viewers.it may be true in some cases but not in all.message should be clear and should be like KISS (Keep It Short & Simple)

Remain casual ... as if this is not an Ad

idea posted by ASOKE KUSARI Domestic Private Banking-Executive/Manager, A large leading PSU Bank - India

Tell ur script writer to write Ad which is not too serious ... just casual. Give reason, rationale in the message.

Dont use children if not required ( many developed countries have banned use of children ) and dont use women_skin un-necesserily.

Present it "as if this is not an Ad. ".

Be Professional and to the point

No add in the world has been successful which is not clear in its message and not to the point. You can't cheat the customer so do not even try to do it. Most successful ads in world have been simple in their presentation and had clear message. By simple message I mean a third grade student should be able to understand the message. By successful I do not mean those ads which have got awards or things of that sort. I mean those ads which have been able to produce the desired results. The personal ads can be produced keeping in mind the set up of the target audience mental as well as physical. Their educational background, their social background, thier behavioral pattern. These things comes to you by experience and not totally through any book or article. Keep your eyes always open to experience these things. This will always help.

My Idea

idea posted by Paras Goel Direct Marketing Executive, My solution meerut

As per my thinking, We should consider following ideas-

1. Targeted audience or customers

2. Clear vision of advertisement

3. Message ( Out come from the ads)

4. Straight forward and simple to understand and short

5. simple language used

6. Impressive and good appealing

7. Represent all the qualities of product  (s)

8.  On the trends.

9. Importance of the product

Indeed i know very well advertisement is the communication and representation of the company b4 customers. But sometimes ads should be like in such manner that teach the customers that our product can improve your life, advertisement is not just message to choose the product among so many products, but it tell the customers (even if they are not using that product segment) that our product is now your basic need. It teach the customers without our product you are missing something very important in your life.

Advertisement can create the basic need of customers.

Thanks

when designing an Ad designers should keep in mind that it should attract the customers.customers should show interest to see the ad.Most of the ads will be very boring, when that ad comes customers will automatically change the channel then what is the use of creating ad. and one more at present scenario creating brand awareness is very important.most of the companies are creating ads by showing social concerns.which are easy to attract the customers

I would feel advertising agencies are gone ahead of the products and the customers. They satisfy their corporate bosses with the innovative ideas. But fails to stand in the shoes of a customer and understand the products and its services. Ad agencies only can give explanations in the closed room. Before making an ad be a customer and release the ad.
