Television, which is increasingly available in all parts of the country, should be made better use of for providing consumer information and education. Local radio programmers (in regional language) should be considered for spreading awareness on consumer issues. Banners with slogans and appeals should be used in public places. In order to transfer messages to uneducated people, picture presentation and animation, etc may be used. |

It is very interesting and important for all consumers. It is not sufficient for me to express my views in detail. In a net shell, i would like to submit that "The consumer protection act, 1986 was made to provide better protection and promotion of consumer rights through the establishment of Consumer Counsels and quasi-judicial machinery.Under the Act, consumer disputes readdressal agencies have been set up through out the country with the District forum at the District level,State Commission at the State level and National commission at the National level to provide simple, inexpensive and speedy justice to the consumers with complaints against defective goods, deficient services and unfair and restrictive trade practices. The consumer can file complaint before the District Forum,State Commission and National Commission. The consumer can file an appeal before the State Commission for that state only, against the order passed by the District forum.. Aggrieved party may file an appeal before the National commission at New Delhi and finally before the Hon'ble Apex Court at New Delhi. the complaint can file One Rupee to 20 laks- before the District Forum, above 20 Lakhs to One Crore- before the State Commission, above oneCrore and above ... -before the National Commission at New Delhi. The consumer having every right to file complaint against airlines, insurance companies, chit funds, hospitals(medical negligence) etc. The consumer protection act, 1986 was also amended in the years 1991 and 1993 to make it more effective and purposeful.further amended " the consumer protection rules, 1987(as amended in 2004). finally,i conclude that the consumer can file complaint against defective goods, deficient services and unfair and restrictive trade practices. WIDE PUBLICITY needed for the better protection and promotion of consumer rights. The Government should give wide publicity about consumer rights through TV channels and news papers etc.,

We should start the awareness about CP Act and its benefits from young age by including it the school curriculum and part of NSS activities. |

Campaign, is the recent trend which attracts the public. So we should use campaign to educate and create awareness among members of the public. The campaign will be rolled-out in the form of an industrial theatre, with performers acting out different scenarios of unethical business practices. These scenarios will depict real-life situations that consumers are likely to experience at the hands of unscrupulous service providers, and how to avoid falling into it. This will attract the public and educate them easily than any other medium. |

I think the best way to make people aware of consumer protection is through social networks. Social networking sites have morphed into a mainstream medium for teens and adults. These sites encourage and enable people to exchange information about themselves, share pictures and videos, and use blogs and private messaging to communicate with friends, others who share interests, and sometimes even the world-at-large. So we should make use of the social networks to create awareness among people, which I think will be more effective than any other medium. |
