Today, students are spoilt for choice and they really don't know what is that exactly want to do in their life, also parental pressure at times makes them choose a different career path altogether and then later complain that nothing is going right in the first place..

So, how to motivate the student to take up the best choice available??

Exhibition & career guidance

idea posted by KALIYAMOORTHY Oil & Gas Area Coordinator, Undisclosed

Create a Career Guidance Cell, in all Schools/College. Of course in University, it is there. Exhibit all relevant Posters, Pamphlets, Leaflets etc. Govt of India , Publication brings out, innumerable free publication highlighting career councilling. Try make available to students , particularly, after passing 10th standard / +2 exams.

Awareness is the one criteria, very much missing, it is to be created so that, young mind catch the speed in the direction.

If possible, organize, planned field trip to Industries, Institutions, organization, mainly, highlighting, the openings available to them when they do continue studies.

Media can play a vital role, particularly, after publication of results, can highlights, the various field open to them to pursue.

One of the most effective techniques is to initially identify the aptitude of the individual for a particular career. Subsequently, he needs to focus in that specific area.

In case he is interested in some other area but does not have the aptitude, then it is not easy to be successful despite hard work, perseverance and other factors.

Hence, career guidance cells in all the schools/colleges will be the initial first step to ensure that the students have a chance of getting aligned to the right career. Subsequently, industry interactions and other techniques can be used to build further momentum in the specific areas....

Thanks for the referral, Anand.....

This will help in better manner. As the students have open choice with options they can communicate with peoples from different fields through exhibitions.

This will help better to students as they have all options available to select. They can have quries & debate on doubts while attending exhibition. through exhibitions they can interect peoples from different fields. this can help in better manner.

Provide exposure , remove Pressure

Thanks for the referral Mr Anand.

A very good topic.

I think proper exposure is needed. The world today has shrunk up most of the knowledge is provided on the internet and can be accessed by any one. Parents should guide their children and expose them to different choices available, be it in the form of admission in a college or be it career.

It should be remembered that the child should not be unduly pressurized to take up a particular choice only because it has been time tested and proved good in the past.

Interactions with the leaders of the industry

idea posted by ANAND M Freelancer, Human Resources (HR) Consulting

I mean than identifying what one is best, they just push along the line which is drawn by someone else or followed by someone else, they need some sort of inspiration like people who are successfull in different fields.

So, by bringing and maintaining continuous interactions with leaders of the industry where students can interact freely and find out whether the job in question really answers their needs for professional and personal growth. In this way we can make students take up the best choice available...

I dont think that will help infact the the parents should find out what exactly their child/ern should want to be in life and then persue with them to persue the relevent studies.

Anand,

Its not easy to choose the right option to suit your career. The student is not matured enough to know what he has to do and by doing what he will achieve what? It is the parents who should inculcate the habit from childhood while motivating him for the goals which he might opt for in his future. Say, if the child is good at math and science, the parents should assist the child in doing better in the subjects while look after his interests as well. If Sachin was good in cricket from childhood he got motivated by his parents. At the same time Late Ramesh Tendulkar looked after his interest by putting him directly under coaching of Shri Acharekar. The hidden talent was explored and the world knows the result.

Following few tips may assist for common man to achieve for their children;

  • Make list of expertise/ interests of the child and try to compare with grades achieved in past.
  • Write, what you want him to do, watch what the child wants to do and compare between the two on merits.
    • What he gets inspired by,
    • His passion
    • His interest
  • Guide the child to do above exercise himself so that he knows his capacity and the facts.

By adapting these additional points, I think the child would choose OR would be in a position to get proper mentoring for selecting the right track for his career.Early Child Development and Care

inculcate listening habit followed by motivation. MOTIVATION IS  M = A + K

Where A stands for ability and K stands for Skill

Hello Anand, I will not agree with you. Today, students are very brilliant and they have wider network and find out what they want to do and then decide. Regarding choosing a career they can refer to their teacher, parents and their well wisher.

Both are equally important. However, it's important that the student be motivated from within to make his choice.

special commity for guidence in schools

Introduce commity for career guidence in all the school which works only to recognise the ability and intrest of students and who guide them to choose their right career

But before this, opportunities and resouces have to be increased in other fields.after that only students will be able to choose their best fields

I am completely agree with you.But the main thing is that student don't know actually what they are wanting to do and what are their strengths at the beginning of their career. They need a guidance to locate their strengths and weaknesses to choose a right pathway for their career. It may be their parents, friends or any other family members. But you see most of the student didn't get it at the proper time.If we all can guide our juniors or younger family members from the day we can overcome some of the problems.

Student Interest will be the last choice

According to my view students are able to take decision as per his own interest. We are just confusing the students to opt many field and sometime compel to choose as per our likeliness. But it is not good for student.

I think student interest will be the last choice for career. & we have to support them also to choose same field related to his interest...
