Pay them well

idea posted by Deepak Gowda Project Lead, Cranes Software

As we all know outsourced projects are more demanding and require higher levels of knowledge, skills, and commitment. We should pay them well.

Mr,Singhai , we do outsource due to low cost , but you are forgetting our first priority is their knowledge. Even Mr.Krishnan has mentioned the same.

Formal interaction with team by both offshore and onshore management

Mostly what is seen in a typical Outsourced company is that the management doesnt know who does the major part of the work for them. They might not even recognise their faces although might know the number 'heads' working in their dept but who are those people anyways. Plus, delegating work is done without shame and deadlines are unrealistic (give the team a break!! they still look like humans). End of the day, management do see results and exactly what they have wanted. A little of personal appreciation and mingling with the teams will not only boost their confidence but also they will start to 'trust' their bosses, plus you wont loose anything if your caught speaking to your own team members. If you want to get your work done, then you do need a strong and reliable team. So, all those managers who knows in and out of their process, its time for 'Team Building' and some brushing on personnel management.

Respect them as knowledge workers

I would recommend Project Manager to involve them in brainstorming sessions, ask for their ideas and consult them about process improvements as we have hired them because of their knowledge and skills. Respect them for the knowledge they posses.

By Respecting their culture

idea posted by Subodh Rawool Project Lead, 3i Infotech

As your outsource team is of a different nationality, be aware of their customs and traditions. Respect their culture.

What I do is I take time to know their communications styles, business ethics and corporate culture. By being aware of cultural differences, I can find better ways to make the team more receptive to our corporate culture and customs.
