The mindset of the managements in this country and the employees has to go for a seachange for this to happen. The managements think that the employees should not deviate from the rules and regulations put forth by them stating that these are the best in the interests of the organisation. The employees are afraid that any deviation will bring punitive action against them.

Top management mindset has to change people should start thinking out of box and give freedom to the persons who are really worth it

A workplace policy that allows employees to spend 15 percent of their working hours developing their own business or product ideas, in west many organizations like Virgin, General Motors, IBM, Google and AT&T have encouraged and reaped the rewards of intrapreneurial employees. But now that India is a global focus and an innovative hub of experimentation, Indian enterprises now really need to nurture intrapreneurship by allowing employees to develop something really good. |

Sir. Your summary is having the answer. Freedoms of thoughts, to share with the company without any encumbrance i.e. emotional participative management.
Financial supports to make successful brands for company & nurturing the feeling of ownership among employees (irrespective of the contribution made).
It will require lots of experiential learning programs, case studies, debates (especially for their entrepreneur dreams) which will ensure that employees are growing intellectually. And then giving them a fair chance of proving themselves innovatively in management. It’s happening in India but not properly, because of the conservativeness.
Intrapreneurship is equals to Employees Ideas (Proposed) plus Company Needs (Investment, Diversification) minus Uncertainties (Worthiness?)
The primary step to promote intrapreneurship is to initially have a workplace policy for intrapreneurship so that the boundaries and limitations are clearly communicated to the members. This helps to focus on the core objective and outcome and enables all the members to work conducively at promoting intrapreneurship within the work environment. Thanks for the referral, Anand.....

INTERNS MUST BE MENTORED BY SENIORS AT WORKPLACE LIKE ELDERS IN FAMILY INHERRIT THE FAMILY VALUES TO OUR KIDS.

Even children can be trained to become entrepreneurs it has to start from thereon, a mind set gets created as we grow and learn McClellan's study on need achievement also shows how even stories narrated to children in their impressionable years contribute to the thought processes generated in later years. In our society we do not encourage out of the box thinking, too much emphasis is put on security. despite the fact that we as a society are the most secure with ancestral homes and huge families we do not completely encourage ppl to go against the norm and maybe explore and discover themselves to chance upon something new and innovative then how can we expect an entrepreneur to be born?

Google would be the best example to support he ideating ideas of their employee and one can actually see that thru' the sucess, the strategies the policies and benefits they offer to their employees.

We need to develop and encourage a work-culture where innovation is respected and due recognition is accorded. New ideas need to be encouraged without any reservation. |

Anand, thanks heaps for this excellent and, currently, quite relevant question. I agree with Suhaschandra Deshpande, many bosses are stealing their subordinates' ideas and are passing these ideas off as their own. This attitude discourages creative people and gives them a disincentive for ideating/creating. This happens even at software/tech/engineering organizations which, instead, should be encouraging creativity. Of course, though the negatives seem to stand out, there are many positives happening. Yes, a sea change in thinking is required, a proper policy is required, and also, a practically implementable procedure is required. We Indians - in general - are traditional in mentality and once we learn to do something a certain way, we love to stick to that way of doing things and we become quite uncomfortable when certain "radical" elements of the society/organization propose a different way of doing the same thing. That this traditionalism is NOT a genetic trait is proven by the success of successive generations of Indian settlers in other societies - notably those societies which encourage experimentation in certain areas and also encourage certain kinds of risk-taking. :D I'm going to be somewhat irreverent now. In our society, however, most of the "old fogeys" reinforce the "tried-and-tested" mentality. I'm sad to say that no revolutionary change in this direction will happen. The people who like experimentation will have to fight every step of the way for a while - at least until the older generations pass on to their next lives - which could be another 50 years at the most. :D :D :D While we're waiting for these guys to die off (and we ourselves rolling along toward the same fate), we - whether we be workers, supervisors, line managers, etc. - we should fight the good fight. We should struggle to make ourselves heard. We should struggle to give birth to our ideas. Instead of having an "each man for himself" attitude, we should defend those who have workable and worthwhile ideas. We should recognize creative individuals whether they are our bosses, peers, or subordinates. India needs a new kind of Freedom movement. Freedom from crippling forms of thinking. Those who want things to change should be the Freedom Fighters. :D |

Take day as it comes, who knows if there will be a tomorrow or not! |
Mam it might not make sense for highly qualified people but it does make sense for few who are still to reach that height. |
Tolerance is good sometimes but not always .. revenge is truly a sign of cowardice. Nice thought for the day sir ! |
