The world of entrepreneurship puts forth several challenges before people who are venturing into it. But as an entrepreneur, you are expected to devise various ways and means to overcome them. There is no room for mistakes, and a constant pressure to deliver.

It is very important to get eminent people on board

idea posted by Veena Gupta Analyst, Blackstone Group

Having people on board who have deep knowledge and experience in the field makes an impact in the way an organisation is structured and the way we deliver. But getting these eminent people on board is a challenge. And in this regard networking helps a lot. But to make this strategy work, one must keep in mind that the talent is not working under you, but working with you. You must create an organisational environment where everyone works at the same level as a team.

According to Dungarwal, for a start-up to flourish, either the promoter must be well experienced or he/she should take experienced people on board to deliver excellent results, in a quest to enhance the credibility of the start up.

THOUGH AS YOU HAVE STATED,GETTING EMINENT PEOPLE IS DIFFICULT,NOT IMPOSSIBLE,THEY MUST BE IDENTIFIED,INCLUDED IN THE BOARD,THEIR  EXPERIENCE IS TO BE SHARED  AND THEIR SERVICES IS TO BE FULLY UTILISED.STRATEGIC DECISIONS COULD BE TAKEN WITH THEIR GUIDANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION PART IS TO BE DELEGATED TO THE SECOND LINE DEFENCE.THEIR ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT WILL DEFINITELY LEAD THE ORGANISATION  RIGHT IN ACHIEVING THE OBJECTIVES. AND INCREASING THE BOTTOM LINE.

It is right but at the same time he has to study the external business environment. An organization must be able to pass through changing environment. The organization or the entrepreneur has to be adaptive or creative. In case, it is adaptive to the environment it will survive and probably enjoy modest growth. In case it is creative , it will prosper and even contribute to the changes taking place in the external environment.

Thanks for the referral Ms. Veena

Prepare for them

idea posted by K. NARAYAN None, None

Making your business grow is like executing a project ; you need to plan ahead , and prepare yourself , not only for the day to day details , but also for the flash points , the disasters in the making.

If you do only the first , you will certainly succeed , but a day and situation may come when you will be caught unawares , and all your efforts can be negated by one single mistake.

Challenges in a business can be financial , related to getting more business on a regular basis , employees related , statutory , on the supply chain front ,... there are an infinite set of areas to look after. Since it is very unlikely that you , on your own , can look after all of this , it is important that you get at least a few key areas looked after by specialists , so that you are free to concentrate on the bigger issues.

If the day-to-day matters can be handled by someone else , you can take up the responsibility of looking ahead - what will happen six months from now , a year from now , how should you tackle the competition ,...

The more questions you ask , both of yourself , as well as of others , the better.

My opinion would be to concentrate on your strengths instead of your weaknesses. All businesses have weaknesses in plenty. It is their strengths that see them through tough times. Build on your areas of strength first , and then tackle your weaknesses , if you can.

Hello Veena, The three points you have refereed, all are relevant to run the business. There may be mistake sometime, but you should correct yourself next time. Further challenges can be overcome by experience and learning from others. It is advice able to delicate the authority to your subordinate to get better results. When it comes to overcoming challenges in business and life, there is a lot that can be said and done about this. It depends on the type of challenge that you are facing, which determines the best way for you to overcome them. To help you overcome challenges you must know and understand that you will have them throughout your life and business. Acceptance is key.

Sometimes you can plan ahead for certain challenges, not all of them but just a few. If and when a challenge does arrive, take some time out to really think about things thoroughly. Take a look at your resources to see if you have enough help to overcome these challenges. Figure out where you need to start or who do you need to turn to.

Once you figure out the basic steps to overcoming challenges, you can improve your chances of success in this area. If you can't do it alone then you should seek out management consulting and counseling services to help you.
