I think this is the most common way of preventing one, where each product has a chip attached to it, and if the person tries to make an escape without paying the bill, the alarm goes off as he nears the exit, and will be caught. But then there are people, who avoid these things, but you can use this for the primary factor to prevent theft from happening..

Ms. Verma, I think this action has already started taking place, not as chip but as bar code. Unpaid luggages makes noise at doors. But still the crime is going on...

Smart card

We need to change the Possible sectors of retail into system where product can be taken by using/swiping the smart card issued at the entrance including to gain entry and gain exit.

This way any product taken by smart card has to be paid using that card at the counter (already billed in that card)and the gain exit only if it is paid entered

How about it?

With High tech surveillance camera with sophisticated computer analytics and remote monitoring is necessary to cut down on the organized retail crime. And then use a combination of preventive measures ppl. Most strategies work best in combination rather than isolation, eg CCTV can work effectively, particularly where helped by security mirrors, good lighting, and alert well-trained staff. And also the store design is important to avoid crimes guys.....
