The 'Indian Manufacturing' sector has the potential to elevate much of the Indian population above poverty by shifting the majority of the workforce out of low-wage agriculture. Also, the government intervention nowadays has played a major role in determining the competition scenario. So, in my view, Instead of enabling the required government policies and active role by the competition agency. A Regulatory Authority should be introduced which will keep a check on the activities of Indian manufacturing sector with other competitors in the market and can generate new ideas..... |

Isupport Isa for introducing a Regulatory Authority for menufacturing sector. If we look at the vast domestic market for use of our products and identify the requirements properly and put our menufacturing Industry in right job with appropriate indiginious technology, than there will be a revolution in this sector in our country. In order to regulate the entire supply chain with innovative concept, one authority is required to monitor. After the sucessful green revolution, computer rvolution in our country, menufacturing sector is eagerly waiting for such an upcoming.

Every industry be it any type for its survival & progress innovation is the key.The biggest problem is that firms always look out for tried & tested ways rather than trying something different. There are R & D deptts but other than that things can be done on more smaller level /ground level. Innovation can revive the industry by making use of available resources a bit differently than they are used usually. The combination of human & technology should be used such that the best output can be obtained. One more important thing that is neglected by industries is innovation by students can be promoted in better way. There is lots of untapped potential in our country in the form of students. If companies can join hands with colleges & promote new ideas by students if can go long way it will make innovators not only at student level but also when these students complete thier education join industries or might become enterprenuers they will be able to use their creativity Ideas for better development of india |

Change is inevitable and that is exactly what we try to resist. Some one has said "If you continue to do what you have been doing till now,you will continue to be there where you are" and still more appropriate "you cannot see future standing in your past".We cannot compete in global arena with our current manufacturing practices. We need innovation in all 3Ps,people, processes and products. bring in more talents, foster technological advancement in then through continuous training and upgaradation, invest in organic growth, there is no dearth of talent in India.Streamline and automate processes and finally we cannot continue to make the same old Maruti-800 and vie to get top notch in automobile Industry.
an altruism, that rarely figures in our strategy.

The globalization of the Indian manufacturing sector has brought down the percentage of Indians living below poverty line from 40% to 25%. The Indian manufacturing sector is successfully competing in the global marketplace and registering high growth on year-on-year basis since the 1990s. So, I think, by promoting and giving more stress in globalization, we can revive our manufacturing sector again... |

I appreciate Mr. Kadian for his nice idea. Indian fabrics like Khadi has a good demand abroad. We can use this demand as a tool to promote our products abroad(Its globalization) which will help in its revival...

If we can bring about high technology that suit Indian conditions and delivery excellent quality at competitive price our manufacturing sector is bound to grow. We have been importing technology and delivering it to our market without modifying it to suit our conditions.

I totally support Shashi Kumar's idea. We have been importing technology and using them at less than 50% efficiency. Indianization of the technology should be the prime focus. That's the reason that I say " GROW YOUR OWN TECHNOLOGY".We need to start practising this concept first by ourselves and then pthers will follow.

Way back in the fifties to late sixties the manufacturing sector was limited to Calcutta,Bangalore,Pune, Thane and to some extent to Ludhiana/Jullender.The cream of the Engineering Industries used to join the industries there. In came the Administrative Service and the Business service. The whole cream started flocking towards these sectors and the poverty at the top rungs of the manufacturing sector had set in.This was further fueled by the severe brain drain from our country who left for better butter. This is the reason for the decline of the sector.I remember the then boss of Tata Steel-- We take MBAs but at the first instance we deMBA them and then we put them on the floor. To add further ,due to the the growth of IT industry men from all corners were sucked in put through some quick training and thus they remained engrossed in the USA shift,India shift etc. We forgot the manufacturing sector. China came in a big way and all eyes went to the east in search of cheap products. Fortunately, some sense of goodness has just come in and the manufacturing sector is showing signs of prosperity. Thanks to some pioneering persons who not give in and will integrate the best of all the worlds and propel the industry forward. The first point is recognition, second pay the personnel at par with the IT and the MBas, third inject appropriate machinery from the west and train up a whole lot of people to manufacturing orientation. Let everyone start think that this is the backbone of the country and all progress is possible through this only.the future lies in the growth of the manufacturing industries. How long will the shampoos, toothpastes, and sanitary napkins continue to dominate the market?

Let me start from pessimism and then move on towards the bright light. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to revive India's Manufacturing Sector at this very juncture. Reason being the current recession. There is a huge dearth of liquid money in the sector and almost 90% of the work done in this sector is on a debt basis. For example, there are many who have already manufactured products but the clients are not in a position to lift them coz they r short of cash (yes! even the Big ones!) and dont know what to do coz everything is "on hold" status. When we analyse further, we get to know that the one who are getting pinched the most is the SMEs. coz they dont have enuf cash to survive, they have Cash Credits and its interests piling up, clients not paying them and suppliers hanging on to their neck.... Now, one of the ways to revive this sector is to start from bottom, try to fish out all the "on hold" products lying with the SMEs and others. Second way is NOT to fire employees, but to talk it out and lessen the pay package of everyone -from CEOs to Managers (not the labours coz they get really lowly paid) And second, to start it again from scratch - the Japanese way. Japanese are way ahead of us in the matters of Manufacturing Processes and Managing them - the JITs, The Kaizens etc. I can go on and on but these are some hard hitting points that i cud come up with, if u r seriously looking for some improvement. |

Optimum utilization is the key.We in the manufacturing sector always concentrate to get optimum utilization of Man,Machine and Material and as i understand we can only revive it through broaden our views about it. 1) Manpower- If you are not taking 100% out of their caliber on reguler basis you should out of the industry. Our management system should be like that which make manpower more responsible, more professional, eager to take responsibilities and further improves themselves such a way that bears more responsibilities. 2)Material- Material procurement for SME's or small houses is always a big task.To get best prices of raw material out of the market ,they can form a group of industries who are procuring same raw material for a fixed time period.some complications are there but it can sort out. 3)Machine- A very-very professional and full of vision discision is required during the time of machineries finalization or in reguler run. 4)Energy conservation- It's my personel observation that we can save more then 20% energy with proper management of it. The more you can save, more you can stand and more you can run. |

Definitely these are the areas we need to look at. Raw material procurement is really a task , especially in south india when the time factor is considered.

Every state in India has an Industrial Development Corporations. These are govt bodies that govern the birth of new indiustries Small Scale and large scale. These bodies should be given the budgets and the powers to give a go ahead for entrepreneurs and also to provide subsidies to encourage new manufacturing units. Subject to the norms of course!! MIDC and MSSIDC are extremely active in Maharashtra. I am aware of GIDC for Gujarat.. I am sure the rest also have these corporations. Thanks for the referral Isha. After a long break that too.. All well?? Welcome back. :)) |

most of the manufacturing concerns are asking for bond and they are not providing better payments to the employees, employee satisfaction is the most thing needed in manufacturing then the production will come easily |

Look for talent and recognize them instead of terming them R&D fellows.Nurture these talents, pay them their due and focus on growing on own technology to strengthen the SMEs. Engineering institutions should become hot bed of innovation and help SMEs to grow technology to suit own needs.

Indian manufacturers lack Information on the Government Schemes and Benefits especially MSME's
|
|
Indian Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME's) is the second largest contributor towards the GDP growth of India after Agriculture. MSME's are the largest employment provider in India. Indian manufacturers especially Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME's) lack Knowledge and information on the Government schemes and benefits specifically designed for them. Government provides assistance in the form of finance, raw material, technology, exhibitions, buyer-seller meets, tender marketing, consortia marketing, training, etc; to all the MSME's who desire to grow. Talent is abundant in India, its only a matter of identifying the right opportunities available within the reach and grabbing it for their success which in turn would be nation's success. |

If I say this people would not like my opinion but the fact is a fact. Mr. Guruprasad I would also like to know your opinion about the same. Why have you posted on the REVOLUTION side? |
" Although feminism speaks the language of liberation, self-fulfillment, options, and the removal of barriers, these phrases invariably mean their opposites and disguise an agenda at variance with the ideals of a free society." - Michael Levin... |
It is important to spread awareness and media can play a good role in it. But the sides which you have mentioned do not justify the debate. I understand that you are concerned about the safety measures and want people to take it seriously. I suggest... |
