Employee workplace privacy rights are virtually nonexistent in private-sector employment. That's because up to 92% of private-sector employers conduct some type of electronic surveillance on their employees, according to estimates. Most may do so even without the consent or knowledge of their employees.

Using sophisticated software, hidden cameras, phone-tapping devices, "smart card" security badges and global-positioning technology, employers may electronically snoop employee.

So, what an employee should do??

Nothing is wrong until you get caught, so be careful can watch your back. If your employer is smart then you try be the smart ass he has ever seen. Always remember never leave traces of your work & don't leave your work unfinished.

Save your things at proper places & provide a security lock to it. This might save your day

The right to privacy is valuable to many. An employee or employer could prohibit or reduce the amount of employee info that’s stored on company computers. A company should put well-designed privacy policies and procedures in place. When an employer has an employee privacy policy it sends a clear message that safeguarding employee information is a priority. When an employer respects their employees' rights and interests, they gain employee loyalty.

Employees need to take some initiative also to help protect their privacy by limiting the information that they give out and things that they write down. Employees need to backtrack their steps and make sure that they’ve erased or reduced any information that they’ve left behind or given out. They need to check their work and limit what they tell people or put on the computer at work.

When a company has a good security policy it’s so much more than just a list of rules. It dictates the scope, direction, and priority for security within a company or organization. To help ensure success in a privacy security policy is to make it descriptive, disseminated, and enforced within a company. Considering employee privacy rights should be dealt with early on in the planning stages of the business and revised as needed.

Privacy at work place ? The work place :

- has been provided by he employer at a cost

- all hardwares and softwares has been brought in by the employer

- AC and furniture is theirs, some times dress and pen-pencil etc have been provided by them

- they are paying wages/ salary & bonus etc for hiring the staff - cost for leave, travel etc are paid

In a situation like this what for is the "privacy" which is to be hidden to the employer ? We must not want to perform jobs of out-side farms to the detrement of (present) employer ?

Finally : Employees privacy may best be secured in their homes.

Why would one need privacy at work ?

A sportsman leaves his privacy aside the moment he steps into the playing arena ; an actor does his job in front of the camera ; many shows on television are live shows in front of millions. So why should a regular employee think of privacy when he walks into his workplace ?

Privacy is when you are at home , not when you are at work.

Privacy is required only if an employee is doing something undesirable , like chatting online , or watching porn on the web or ....

For those who are conscientious , lack of privacy is never an issue.

No need of privacy at job because you have sold your time to your employer. Besides all this if you own your job and do it like your own job you would not require any privacy at job. In all if a employee is working with full devotion and faithfully then why the privacy is required.

For privacy have your own time and place, it may be home ,hotel qr whatever place you own.
