India has the record buffer stock of food grains in the world. But india also stands in the 66th position on Global hunger index. Its not just the case of India but the people in a huge number of nations are sleeping in the bed of hunger. The G8 summit held in Italy also failed to tackle the problem of food crisis through increasing funds to increase agricultural aid. So at this situation of absolutely no help what can we suggest to tackle this situation. How can this endless crisis be solved?

Please put in your ideas into this topic.

Agriculture biotechnology + Liberalisation

idea posted by Bindu Narayan Product Development Manager, Care Biomedicals

Defenitely Agriculture biotechnology will be really helpful to this painful situation of the world. But still some problems exist in the functioning part of the Biotechnology sector. First of all the market entry barriers which disfavour developing countries has to be tackled as quick as possible because it blocks the helping hands from other nations in bringing modern technologies. Then the Intellectual property rules has to be liberalised because the existing rules discourage the sharing of ideas and innovations that may be helpful to those working on behalf of farmers in developing nations.

DIS IS D MAJOR PROBLEM FACING IN OUR COUNTRY.... MAJORLY IN ANDRA THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS FACING NOW IS HIGH RATES OF HOME NEEDS.PARTICULARLY ABOUT DAL..

IN MADRAS UNIVERSITY THE HOD OF D FOOD SCIENCES DISCOVERED A NEW VARIETY OF DAL HAVING MORE BENEFITS. I THINK IT WILL BE USEFUL 2 OUR COUNTRY. AND DECREASING OUR PRESENT CRISES..................

ALL STATES IN OUR COUNTRY SHOULD TAKE THAT HYBRID VARIETY AND INCREASE OUR COUNTRY VALUE IN OTHER SIDES...............

Transgenic plants

Transgenic plants were created more. They are mostly disease-resistant,high-yielding,high nutrients etc....First we will create awareness about global hunger and food crisis among the people. And then we will shows the benefits of Transgenic Plants. Most of the house, in the balcony they grows the ornamental plants.Instead of that we have to grow the vegetable plants. If everyone follows this means there is no global hunger at all.

many farmers across our country, wont release the crop into market from the field directly, they will store their crop to maximum price levels.if at all they released the mediators of the crop wont let into market.all dis cases finally leed to food crisis even thou we had sufficent grains for consumption.

Solving the problem of Global hunger and food crisis depends on the following:

  • Good and stable government
  • Unpolluted water
  • Joining of rivers
  • Better man-power wages
  • Good quality seeds having shorter cycle, better yield, pest resistance good market price to sell
  • Goverrnment/private agency support in emergency situations, natural calamities etc.
  • Good harvest technology
  • Post-harvest techniques
  • Good supply chain management and logistics
  • Long time storage facilities at various locations
  • If feel self sufficient then export

In short we need a second Green Revolution, using the scientific techniques available, storing the germ plasm and well co-ordinated effort and focus on the problem.
