I think youth are interested in things which is fun and useful which is like trailers, amusing virals,content (e.g. greetings) to pass on,games to enjoy. They enjoy news alerts during a sports tournament, a game to play when bored on a train, a trailer to watch while trying to decide what film to watch, all add context. So i think mobile channels can win concentrating on these lines. |

So far what mobile has providing best to the young population are music and games, but these things has not added value to either mobile companies or the marketers. But with 3G technology on it's way few things, which will be very hot property among youth are: 1) Social networking- Anyways they are addicted to it Facebook, Twitter or Orkut. High spead internet will give them opportunity to interact their friends on mobile also. 2) Games- Mobile games sale will have a new meaning as we will see lot of features in mobile, which will have game downoad facility. Mobile banking will prove a winner. 3) Information- What keeps todays youth ahead is the lots of information on web. They can get these information on mobile as well. As these things will keep them tied with their mobile, marketers will also find a new way to connect with youth via advertisement in the form of MMS, Mobile TV etc.

Other than the other social nwing outlets, and advertising, a concept I have played around with, being Mobile Video Advertising. How does the idea sound like, instead of those boring text sms'es you recieve a ping and a video opens up, displayin the ad. Perhaps similar ideas fresh and different should work out! |
