The objective of visual merchandising is to create a fashionable, trend creating customer friendly atmosphere for shopping. That can increase the market share and profit to a higher level along with loyal customers.Great store presentation and product merchandising is like a good book. The tools used to achieve these attributes are based on creating the most satisfying experience for the shopper, turning browsers into buyers.
So how do you think Visual merchandising should be used to target Indian consumer? Please share your ideas.

An important element in any store design is the look of the store-front. The entrance reflects the personality of the store and gives a glimpse of the merchandise available inside. The way merchandise is displayed in show windows also has a lot to do with enticing the guests into the store. Whether you have a store in the mall or on the street, the customer has only a few seconds to view and be attracted by your displays.

"one cannot change how one is perceived but can change how it is presented ".so, an appropraite way to attract customer attention is ,that it should be designed keeping in mind of the mindset of targeted consumer.if it happen to be store meant for youth it should have to have youth feel and for kids it should be a playful place .if a designer manages to create the link then it would definately result in sale.the idealogy/attitude  of products should be conveyed through its window.that's money well invested.

actually when we pace any item on mall or departmental store ,it should be briefed by some technical person how it is better to other products.than people will listen you and take decision properly,this can be arranged by previous informing ,and convinent date suitable to mall or departmental store.this i have tried at banglore ,since i am related to edible oil industry,i have convinced so many peoples to buy mustard oil because it is good peoples listned properly and act in a positive way.s.k.shukla

Information on discounts and buy one get one free offers in the outlet in any particular day. It may convey on what products the promotional offers are there as well as where, in the store, to find those products.

What about till? In India, tills are most poorly managed.  This will deter customer to return.

Is your store easy to shop?  There are several approaches to retail store organization and merchandise display. Presenting products in an attracting manner can also increase the perceived value of items that normally would seem unconnected with any other merchandise.

All the ideas from 1-4 would be the right approach to targeting any client and not just indians starting with the Store front/look, the layout, pointers / sinage, the lighting effects, customised shelving for promo goods and the attitude of the staff will help showcase the stores concept and improve sales.

VM is the face of any Retail store.So it must be always dressed with fresh and appealing product and as per the store format.Excessive display may create second thought about the store i.e. about product,servicing, mentality of attending staff.As in VM only creativity is counted,which is directly proportional to the staff attitude and way of presentation of that store. As our major customers are middle class cata.,we must do VM keeping in mind the same .
