I mean this could be a potential tool for searching a job people, as earlier you would have used these status messages to update what you are thinking, what you are doing now and at times putting some good quotes to impress others, but for a change why don't we use it get a job, by putting across the right message you can actually make your connections work for you in a smart way and update where the walk-in's are happening and will refer that job for you which only happens through referrals these days....and believe me 90% of the jobs get placed due to referrals...so why not use social networking tool to work for you the way you want it to, than the medium dictating terms all the time. |

I agree with this idea. I would add that use of social media effectively would:-
1) maximize exposure of the candidate
2) be a good way of candidate's online self branding

The profile is important...but mute. In my opinion, social media give the possibility "to show in action" at least some of your capabilities and knowledge. This could be done through your interactions: asking questions, stimulating and managing on line dialogue, facilitating to arouse a collective intelligence from these discussions, giving your professional contributions to people searching for help etc. |

Somebody has to watch over the possible candidate. If people are busy contributing, and everybody seems to be competent, I am not sure if just participating in the discussions is enough. But it is tremendous idea..

Ultimately you are going on sell, and want to sell your time using company's resources, so employer should be satisfied enough with you that you will utilize resources well and time invested by you will produce good output for the company . . . . |

Social media is all about using your contacts to the fullest, I am currently trying to look for a job, however, even after trying for different frontiers thing are moving snail slow....... So my personal experience say that using your networking to the fullest can only help if you have the right contacts under you. If you are solely relying on Social Media to get a job for you, its a definite "No No" ............ |
