Today when I was reading the news, the news of government's star campaigner came into my notice. It said that "The government’s star campaign has just saved India around 6,528 million units of power, roughly equivalent to three days of national consumption". It was truely an amazing idea put forward by the govt to save power at this period of increasing power demand.

Will this method be useful to meet our increasing power demand?

Star Campaign is useful to meet future power demands

idea posted by Vineet Prakash Sales/BD Manager, Tata Power

To my opinion I think the star rating of the effeciency of products is indeed a good idea which helps in saving power especially in households. I think this programme will be really very useful to our power sector if it is utilised in a effecient manner.

I also agree with this idea but one thing that I want to add that when we will put comperison on the basis of financial loss/profit people ( Aam aadmi)  will immediately turn for energy efficiant product . As in industries when we invest for energy efficient products  we first calculate " The rate of return on our investment" & Pay back period of our investments. in the same way on replacing a LATTO(old bulb)with CFL govt should campaign how much saving per month in energy bill will be there.in how many months cost of CFL will be recovered.Still in the market as compare to traditional bulbs CFLs are costly there is aneed of some subsidy to the manufacturers.

I m also agree with this idea but the most important is to create awareness in general peoples mind. We the peoples can save more energy by knowing that what is the power rating of our electrical aplliances that we are using in our own home and it will take what amount of energy to run for a normal time. It is just not the duty of Govt. It is a team work. I mean to say power distribution companies or state electricity boards should start a general awareness programmes everywhere. Then general public will come to know that the real fact and automatically the energy consumption by the general peoples will goes down. It will directly helpful to consumers i.e by reducing their electricity bills and indirectly helpful to power distribution companies or state electricity boards to reduce their BST(Bulk supply tariff) bills as well as T&D loss and AT&C losses, which will help our nation to fight against power crisis and it will somehow reduce the increasing rate of global warming.

                                                                          Thanking you
